I have stage 4 melanoma
I have been battling melanoma since 2006, I am now 30 years old and have had 9 surgeries and 2 clinical trials and 3 different chemotherapies....this show makes me smile. I can relate to her need to spend time with her son, as I have two girls myself...they were just 2 weeks and 4years old when I was diagnosed. I'm glad that there's finally a show about melanoma instead of breast cancer....more people can be aware! Great job so far!!
One of the Best Show Out There
I was first reluctant to watch this show. It seemed boring and depressing and seemed like pure torture to watch. Oh, how I was mistaken. The Big C is one of the best shows I have ever watched. Period. It will have you laughing and crying at the same time.
The plot is fairly simple, Cathy Jamison finds out she has stage 4 melanoma and wants to enjoy her last days. The worst part about this show is how slow it starts out. The developments are important, but it feels as if the show is just dragging on, but this all pays off. The scenes with Paul (Platt) are hilarious and the scenes with Andrea (Sidibe) are simply hilarious. Same goes for older brother Sean Tolkey (Hickey).
However, even though the show starts slow, it quickly picks up near the finale, mainly due to a character you'll love, Marlene (Somerville). Her performance nearly moved me to tears, and it only gets more heartbreaking during the season finale, which will take you on one emotional rollercoaster.
The acting is superb, especially with Cathy (Linney) and Marlene (Somerville).
This show is not to be missed, the iTunes price is a little high, but it's a show worth buying and watching over and over and over...
I gotta say... WOW!
This show kicks you right in the teeth. There are so few of us that Cancer has not affected our lives in one way or another. The performances are spectacular. The characters are relatable and the circumstance is just crushing. Acting at it's best. At times, it's hard to catch your breath while watching. Tissues are highly recommended although laughter is the order of the day. This is a must see.
I am so ready for season 2.
