Description

While other media outlets bring you news as it happens, only the Onion News Network has the power to bring you the news before it happens. With our state-of-the-art wormhole satellites, we can now transmit Onion News Network broadcasts from the year 2137. More than 125 years into the future, the Onion News Network remains the world’s most powerful media empire, dispensing the finest news, commentary, and swooshy graphics 24 hours a day, directly into the right eye of every viewer through technology called "EyeStreaming." These broadcasts depict a much-changed planet. A catastrophe known only as “the Burndown” has reduced the world to a lawless wasteland — food and water are scarce, social institutions have crumbled, and a screaming, tattooed thug has been installed as the president of what remains of the United States. In robot-controlled CalifornieX, humans are forced into speed-dating programs to produce more slave offspring, while protesters in the Indiana Grimlands brave devastated city centers, coming out in full force to defeat a bill that would allow same-sex couples to wed. Internationally, the last remaining Israeli and Palestinian are still locked in battle, and completion of the world-destroying "Doomsday Machine" has been delayed once again, sparking widespread outrage that life on earth will have to continue. Download Future: News From The Year 2137 now. Because to stay ahead in today’s world, you need to know what's going to happen in tomorrow’s.

The only video on iTunes worth your $2

For those of you who watch the onion, you know what you are getting. This is not laugh out loud funny by any means, rather this is a satirical video of our society by showing what the world looks like over a hundred years from now. Yes the future is incredibly grim, with people begging to be killed, but this is satire, it is supposed to be outlandish.

at first glance, this video seems to have no more value than just 3 or 4 of the free shows they show on their website for free. The true value comes from its replay-ability. So much is going on in every single frame, I will probably have to watch it 10 times to really swallow all of the content. Thus so while the main plot line of the program is nothing different than their usual satire, the real value comes in not only from seeing a longer and well throughout program, but from all of the satire they spread around the screen.

If you really enjoy the onion, and are not looking for a laugh out loud type of show like the Daily show, this video is perfect. This is quite honestly video satire at its best as it parodies everything that is around today. It parodies the Middle East conflict, it parodies the scare-tactics media, it parodies government overspending and politics. While not perfect, its well worth $2.

Amazingly complex dystopian view of the future (now with jokes)

Holy crap.

If you like The Onion or even if you're just a fan of sci-fi, you need to check this out.

This is seriously one of the most impressively conceived and executed futuristic visions I've ever seen. Everything totally fits together to create a larger world and they've taken every aspect of current TV and news media and shoved it through a satirical dystopian meat grinder. It's so dense - I've watched it four times already and I'm still finding new jokes (make sure you get the HD version). You almost have to go frame by frame. It's almost not even a comedic piece anymore, just this insane, complex, bleak and endlessly inventive world that happens to be anchored by satire. Totally in line with the Onion brand, and does it proud.

Amazing

One of the most original and interesting futuristic pieces I have seen in a long time. Have watched it 5 times already.
