A comedy podcast about the Tudors and 1500s shenanigans. It's educational, we swear. But mostly funny. Hosted by Emily Simpson and Garrett Kaser. Produced by Jeffrey Simpson.

Ep. 107 Slippery Dick: Richard Rich Continued
WE'RE BACK!
The dark version of Forrest Gump was named Richard Rich. We discuss this man's insane escapades in Henry VIII's court, trying to figure out what he actually cared about and whether he had any real religious beliefs.

Today we talk about the government system in the Tudor times, which really is not much different from today's surprisingly.
-
Ep. 104 Joust Kidding
On the heels of our visit to the Renaissance Faire, we discuss what jousts and tournaments entailed for the Tudors.
-
Ep. 103 EVERYTHING is Islam!
Not all English involvement with the Middle East were crusades. Some Tudor monarchs realized that getting involved with the Ottoman and Saffavid empires led to money (and also screwed the Spanish).

Ep. 102 Fifty Shades of Lady Jane Gray
History knows her as the Nine Days Queen, but we know her as the inventor of BDSM (probably).

Great for Casual Historians
I throughly enjoy this podcast and have listened to it many times. The banter is fun and light and very much like you're just hanging out with friends. Same with hanging out with your own friends, some jokes are funnier than others but still overall great. I really enjoy all three members of the podcast.
There are many historical accuracies and I found myself correcting the information in my head. If they come back from hiatus, I would really encourage more through research especially since Emily discusses all the books she reads but cites Wikipedia most of time :/ Also Jeff and Garret should have cheat sheets of key dates and players in the world of the Tudors as it can be really frustrating for them to ask these small clarifications over and over (which could have been edited out). The inaccuracies, especially when small name mistakes are made constantly by Emily like confusing Elizabeth Woodville for Elizabeth of York multiple times in Elizabeth of York's episode. Definitely don't take all the info here as the end all be all since its an amateur history podcast.
Overall, I really enjoy this podcast despite inaccuracy issues and I really hope they return from hiatus. I have to take 1 star off for the multiple historical inaccuracies through most episodes.
LOVE!!!
I just found this podcast and I absolutely love it. As a sucker for Tudor England I really appreciate a podcast that is historical and makes me laugh. I have listened to some other Tudor based podcasts and this is by far my favorite. Thank you so much for this fascinating content!!!!!
I don’t understand how people can possibly hate on this
This show is absolutely hilarious, I’ve learned so much, & the hosts seem like absolutely golden people. I wish I could be their friends in real life. They’re fun, funny & historically nerdy. If those are your type of people, def give this show a listen :)) I miss them & hope they come back soon!!
Side note.. The show doesn’t have five stars because some people are annoyed Emily isn’t digging through archives and hopping on a plane to visit London for first hand sources. Yes, she is using Wikipedia - she has a FULL TIME JOB and a CHILD. She owns it, and the point of the show is to have fun and learn a little something. We’re not Tudor historians. It’s not that deep.
Also, people are mad that they’re bantering & joking. Some people are no fun I swear.. Y’all chill!! It’s a passion-project podcast you’re hearing for free, & it’s obviously a fun & comedic show. Idk what y’all were expecting lol.
We can’t wait for you guys to return :) hope you’re doing well!
