No certainty at all
I wouldn’t recommend this. Price usually works out more expensive then plane ticket so I would think it’s mostly for people who need to move something... (In my case 2 puppies) BUT there isn’t any certainty- you confirm journey and it can be canceled any time! I got mine canceled a day before leaving which was extremely stressful... I had to find someone else last minute with whom I experienced the poorest communication ever and asking for more money then we previously agreed... I have to say I wouldn’t be probably able to move my doggies abroad for cheaper but this was such a bad overall experience wouldn’t do it again. I understand that “blablacar” can’t be responsible for the drivers attitude.... but should have the money/obligation part sorted... otherwise don’t see much point

Poor app and the service is nose-diving
The app is clonky and ill-conceived with lots of annoying little things in the experience:
You can only create alerts to find what you want if there are no results returned from your search. So, if those results are unsuitable (which they often are) , no way to create an alert.
Messages blocked for entering a French 5 figure postcode ( thought it was a telephone )
No iPad app ( except the phone app, run on iPad).
Moreover, as others have pointed out, the monetisation of the service seems to have killed it in the uk. I offered several mainstream journeys (like STN to Bristol) over a week with a weeks notice and not only no takers : nobody even searched for them. I can never find a lift in the uk any more, I always try.
Subjectively, French users report that many journeys are being offered to be just cents better than the next cheapest buses and trains. There is an increase in people doing popular routes as a job / business and generally just a less good feeling.
Greed, money and capitalism screw the world up but before they finish that job, they screw BlaBlaCar.

This App needs to get smarter
I have to say a lovely concept, but it can do with being more savvy!
So I created a ride alert... I get an alert via email immediately a ride was posted (smart)... then I try to book the said ride via the email link. But as I try to confirm the booking, it notifies me that I don't have the latest version of the app! So I click on 'update' as the 'cancel' stops you from continuing....
It now took me to the app store where I updated the app (iPhone 6s plus). Now I open the supposedly updated app, hoping to be able to finish the booking. But hey presto, it starts looping over itself (going back to the start of this paragraph) - & not allowing me to move on to completing the booking!
When I try an alternative way to find the ride on the refreshed app (after re-installing the app... following several tries), the ride doesn't even show up! Now if that particular ride was cancelled, should the app not notify one?!
Please invest in testing your offerings.... not rushing to offer services/features that break. Disappointed!!!
