Find My Friends
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Find My Friends allows you to easily locate friends and family using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Just install this free app and sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud. Adding a friend is easy — just choose from your contacts or provide an email address to send an invitation. When your friend accepts your invitation using the Find My Friends app on their device, you can start following their location. Your friends can request to follow your location the same way.
If you prefer, you can use temporary sharing to share locations with a group of friends for a specific period of time, such as an evening or a long weekend. If at any time you don’t want to be followed, you can hide your location with a single switch.
Find My Friends also lets you set up location-based alerts that can notify you automatically when a friend arrives at the airport, a child leaves school, or a family member arrives home safely. You can notify friends about your current location or changes to your location at any time.
Find My Friends works even when the app is in the background (a passcode lock on your device is required) and has been optimized to avoid draining your battery.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
Ok I am not a person who rates apps and gives reviews but I have to review this one. I talked my husband into getting it because I thought it sounded really great in case we ever lost our phones. Well guess what happened today, he lost his phone! It dropped out of his shirt pocket at work and into his delivery guys truck and he didn't notice at first. When he finally realized it was missing, he called me and I tracked the phone and sure enough it was where we hoped it would be! On the delivery truck. My husband was able to call the company and get the drivers number and he will get his phone back tomorrow. I know your probably thinking, "well I don't need this app to do that" Oh but you do. Because the phone was buried in a pile of scrap so the driver didn't think he had it because he couldn't see it and the husband keeps it on vibrate at work so we couldn't call it for the driver to find it but when my husband told the driver where he was located exactly he said yes that's where I am so he knows it's in the truck for sure! Anyway, thank God for this app! I've noticed that some people don't like it but all I can figure is their not using it right. I have never had an issue at all! Besides, I would want my husband to find me if someone was to ever snatch me :-) (God forbid) wouldn't you?
Love the idea, not the execution.
I love the idea of this app, I use it all the time to know if friends have showed up where we're meeting, or if my wife made it to work safely, and so on.
My issue is that whenever you go to look up one specific person, as opposed to large map of all your friends' locations, it tends to take 10 times longer to find that one friend, and when I go back to the large map, it's found everyone else's location except the one I actually cared to find. Makes no sense. I'm pretty sure it's been doing that since the update previous to the current one.
Another issue I have is that when it hasn't yet found someone's location and you go to their profile, it says "location not available" like it gave up already. But when you go back to your friends list, it shows up as "locating". It's pretty confusing.
My last issue is that it seems to take way too long to find people's locations. I know that it takes significantly longer than the Find My iPhone app. I have hijacked my friends' iCloud accounts to prank them and lock their phone, and I know that their location shows up pretty quickly, so it's just pretty disappointing that I have to wait so long to see their location that may not even be accurate. I understand that in certain places it's harder to pinpoint a location, but I thought I'd include that complaint anyway.
I love the idea of this app, but there are a lot of bugs that need fixed.
The best app to have
I essentially got this app based on a review from a sheriff. However after some brain dead thief tried to steal my phone out if my hands and run away, I realized just how important this app was. I was a the thirds door within 5 mins and lucky enough for him the police were right behind me. Because of my quick thinking and the use if this app we narrowed it down to within a few yards of his position. When they arrested him he was also charged for 4 more if the same thefts and he went to jail for 3 years, I would have to say that everyone should make use of this app. It truly is an important app to have. To those who are complaining I think you should try a samsung lol. I would be a spokesperson for this app. I have used it over and over many times for various reasons and it has never failed me!
