Still can't edit and dictate well

After all these years, Evernote still hasn't gotten simple text editing to work consistently and well. The biggest manifestation is voice dictation with Siri: as of a few versions ago it does not display that words have possible corrections and even then if you can get it to admit there are corrections by intuiting their possible existence, you still can't pick them.

I'm a premium subscriber and use Evernote on my Mac dozens of times a day, and multiple times a day on my iPhone. But I compose 99% of my iOS notes in the superb Drafts app, because Evernote cannot be relied on for entering text. I realize that the most basic text editing now works better on Apple platforms, and I appreciate that. But good support for dictation is not too much to ask.

About every week, I consider switching to Microsoft OneNote.

Review for class note-taking

I have used this app for basic note-taking purposes on my iPad. I go to law school, and I've enjoyed using this as part of my workflow.

Basically, I set up notebooks for each of my classes. I create a new note for each day, and I sort my notes in each notebook by date.

I take notes on the reading before each class period, then I add in-class notes as further clarification or supplementation to what I've already written about.

Each day I distill the salient points from the reading/in-class notes into a single, cumulative note that I am building throughout the semester. I review this note each time I add to it, and it keeps the course fresh in my mind.

It's nice being able to search my notes. The actual word processor is pretty barebones but has all the features you really need for class notes. Everything automatically syncs as long as you have an internet connection, so you won't lose anything. And you can access your notes from any device with the app or via the web site. So, even if you forget your iPad you can grab your notes at any PC terminal.

Almost Perfect

Evernote actually started becoming useful when iOS 8 came around, the extension is a God-send. Fast forward to now, and Evernote is simply stable as can be, and my go-to note taker for getting everything down in meetings, organizing and saving past homework assignments, and saving apps for a later purchase or download. Simply put, Evernote is a one of a kind note taker, it's the Swiss Army knife of notebooks!

On 3D Touch, force touching on the app icon to start taking a note is extremely useful! However I wish I could peel and pop in more areas, as I rarely find it useful to peek only from the Evernote home screen. Otherwise a noteworthy inclusion.
