Customer Reviews

I use this every day, multiple times

I have recommended this service to many people over the four years I have used it. It would be too detailed to tell you all the purposes for which I use Evernote.

It is my filing cabinet. Over time, I am scanning paper items into my Evernote system. I use it to take notes, make reminders of things, set up filing systems for information, make plans, draft articles, share articles and information, and on and on.

Evernote saves me time, and helps me not lose things. I greatly appreciate the fact that whatever I have in Evernote is available on my office computer, my home computer, my tablets, and my phone.

I take notes at gatherings and events, and they all go into Evernote. Pieces of paper and handouts, which were hard to keep track of and hard to file consistently now go into one centralized place.

There is one minor complaint: I do not know why you have to tap or click twice to start entering text into a previously created note. I do not know how many times I have placed a cursor (I thought) and started typing, only to realize I need to place the cursor two times. This needs to be fixed.

I use this app multiple times every day. It is my most used app by a wide margin.

A lot to like but...

Evernote deserves its great reputation. I had some trouble with the Windows version a while back but overall it’s excellent software both on my Mac and on my iPhone. Overall Evernote’s software and service are of the highest quality. It’s probably just me but I’ve had a problem with how it works that I just haven’t been able to solve.

Evernote shows me information that I don’t care about. More precisely, there is information that I captured or wrote down for a reason, but don’t want to see it until I choose to look it up. I haven’t found a way to do it. Instead a of lists of entries with questionable utility in any give moment, I’d like to archive notes for use later on and leave the critical info front and center.

There's a sort of leap of faith you have to take with Evernote, because it's hard to convey it's benefit before experiencing it; but the benefit doesn't really become obvious until you have a lot of information in Evernote.

A couple decades ago there was something called Lotus Notes. Evernote finally delivers on what I was hoping to get then from Lotus Notes. And then Evernote goes so much further.

All I can really recommend is to give Evernote a really good try. Commit for at least a couple months. Then, when you start to "remember" details you would lose without Evernote, then the light bulb comes on and you'll wonder how the got along before Evernote.
