Stop Complaining, this is the best game for the ipod!!
I bought this game despite the reviews about the controls, because to be honest, a little challenge is what makes it fun and not boring. People who are complaining about the controls don't seem to realize that the challenge is half the fun. I would play this game over and over again bc it is so fun. I have 10 more levels to go to beat the game. The main thing most people want from a game is for it to be enjoyable. Well it takes some getting used to with the controls, but once u play it, it gets easier to control. And it's always fun, regardless of if ur stuck on a level. Just go to practice mode if ur stuck on one, and u can practice. And for those complaining about not having time to work through 10 levels, do the instant play or practice modes, and just do one level for fun. Overall It's a great game with awesome graphics, and the sound effects are very fun.
Update: I beat the game! So fun. I think i will start over again for fun.
Update: new super monkeyball 2 is out! I payed for this first one when it was 9.99 but I think it was worth the price even if they lowered it. The graphics are always amazing and it's the first game that I didn't get bored with on iPhone. Now with the 2nd one it has wifi multiplayer and minigame. I'll definitely get that too
The Worst Game Ever Downloaded.
I know my review may sound drastic, but hear me out on this one. Here are my reasons: 1) The controls for this game are atrocious. I've seen videos of different presentations done before the release, and now I know that the developers definitely hid the rediculous sensitivity on this game. You can't tilt the iPhone for any real amount of movement or else the ball will go careening off the side of the board. 2) As a teenager that is not able to get a job legally and has to pay for everything purchased, the $10 price was not fun. At all. I know this because I have also seen others complain about the price and I am sure that many of them have ways of making money. 3) From the start, this application messed with my iPhone. The first time I played it, my audio went BERSERK. I mean seriously, my ears were ringing after I yanked my headphones out. The second time, the audio didn't work at all. The third time, it totally crashed my iPhone and the Apple logo was on my screen for about 2 hours. 2 HOURS. I know from experience that there are many games that are better and cheaper (Crash Kart, Chopper, Chimps Ahoy), and that utilize the accelerometer so much better (Labyrinth, Cube Runner, Chopper). All this to say, don't waste money on this game. It's a waste of memory, time, and money.
Great Game... Terrible Controls
The game is amazing. Good graphics, good levels, great music, etc... I have played more than 2/3rds of the boards, and am not complainging that the game itself is too hard. Just that the controls are terrible. The over-sensitivity is a problem that MANY people have complained about. Instead of fixing this issue, Sega insists that they know best, and proceed to update the app again and again without making the controls less sensitive. Very frustrating. If you want a fun game, this is it. But understand that the controls are not optimum. Prepare to be patient with them. This would easily be a five star app if the controls were not so sensitive. Once you get the hang of it, it is fun. However, because it only takes a very slight over-correction to lose control, just the smallest over-tilt, and you completly lose your handle. Then you have to take a few moments to get it tilted back to center. The difference in movement between too far, and just right is barely perceptable. I suppose it shows off just how sensitive the iPhone accelerometer is, but not good for gaming. That said, I will keep playing it. But I pleed with Sega to listen to their users, and have the good sense to give us what we want. Either make the darn thing less sensitive or allow us to do it ourselves. Then the literally several hundred comments on the Internet about how the controls are not callibrated very well, will go away, and your users will be much happier.
