Customer Reviews

Nice overall but needs some things

First, why does it take so long for the data to refresh when accessing a tab? Shouldn't it already be loaded? When I switch from "In Theaters" to "Incoming", the data under incoming should've already loaded! Even then, it shouldn't take 5-10 seconds to refresh like it currently does.

Most importantly, if you are going to take a long time to refresh the data, at least don't show us old data until then. It confuses the user (especially those new to the app). It's not clear that it's old data until the screen refreshes.

Why not use Apple's background app refresh feature to have the data already refreshed before I even open the app?

Another major problems is when you're viewing your list of movies you've rated or want to see—if you leave the list and go right back to it, you have to start all over at the top. The app isn't smart enough to remember your place.

All this said, I find the app very useful for viewing movie information, such as Rotten Tomatoes ratings, critic reviews, user reviews, cast, trailers, etc. I wish they hadn't split storing my movie collection into a separate app.

Great app!

Been using flixster as my main moviegoing app for many years now. Best part is that it shows you nearby theatres, so even when you're not near home you can find the nearest theatres and show times. Saves you a lot of time in that respect. I'm not a huge fan of movie reviews, but I like the fact rotten tomatoes is implemented so I can see what percent of people liked the film before I see it, and read the reviews if I'm interested. Also, buying tickets is easy for the theatres that support it. Thanks for a great app!

Movies can pay to hide reviews

When a movie is getting terrible reviews, they let the movie pay to be a 'featured' movie and hide its reviews. Since this is basically the Rotten Tomatoes app and we have no other options on the App Store, users have to actually go to the website to see the reviews. I understand that every app needs to be profitable, but they already have terrible ads that you have to endure when trying to watch a trailer or even randomly when viewing a movie's details. They have no competition so they are greedy.
