Eh.

I was actually really excited about this app. So much easier to use than that tiny silver remote that always gets lost. And I’m on my phone all the time and I don’t ever lose it so it’s nice. And obviously you won’t have to worry about replacing the remote ever, but my biggest issue is that it doesn’t even work anymore. It keeps telling me to go to my computers on my Apple TV which I haven’t set up because I never use it... as well as get on my computer (which I also don’t have because to be completely honest my MacBook Air broke after having it about a month and I rarely used it for anything but school work so it’s odd that it broke down.. just like my phone always does 😒) I also tried deleting the app and re downloading it but frankly that didn’t work either. So now I can use the app at all. Even tried logging out of my account and back into it but the stupid app just keeps telling me the same thing. It was cool while it lasted but now it’s rejecting me from using it and it’s honestly making me very angry.

Great, but a few bugs.

Ten times better than using the standard Apple remote with Apple TV. The two biggest issues I have with this app are occasional dropouts in connectivity (could be my cheap wifi router), and phone calls. Dropouts I can usually fix by restarting the app, turning my phone wifi off and on, and power cycling my wifi router if all else fails.

***This should hopefully be an easy fix, though I'm not an app developer. My biggest issue with this app other than dropouts is that there's no feature to automatically pause content when a phone call comes in. If I'm watching Netflix on my Apple TV and a call comes in, I need to tell them to wait, hit the home button, open remote and then pause. Just a minor inconvenience, but I would give the app five stars if they could fix this. Bonus points if you could turn that feature on and off in the settings menu!

5-stars when it works, 0-stars all other times

It seems every time there's an update, this app has a new set of chaotic issues requiring me to continuously restart my system, reconfigure sharing or just swear softly under my breath. I've been grateful over the past few months, though, because for the first time ever, the Remote app has worked nearly flawlessly. With the most recent update however, all my AirPlay speakers drop and then fail to be recognized--not in iTunes, only in this app. Rebooting the app doesn't work, nor does rebooting devices. I have to either play music directly via iTunes or reboot my Mac to get the Remote app to once again play nice. Please, please, Apple...can't you QA multiple use cases before botching things up by tossing out a new release? We're all depending on the integration of our iOS and Mac stuff.
