Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn’t run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.
What's New in Version 48.0
Thanks for using Facebook! To make our app better for you, we bring updates to the App Store regularly.
Every update of our Facebook app includes improvements for speed and reliability. As new features become available, we’ll highlight those for you in the app.
Latest: the "continue reading" bar that pops up won't allow you to load remaining article. Keeps loading the first posting. This keeps getting worse rather than better.
Update: the new Coffee Kpods ad will not let you scroll in Linked Safari uploads. Keeps reloading screen. Newest bug fixes and update has done nothing to address problems. Get new programers and QC personnel who will address posted problems. !!!
This continues to be a problem on iPad app. The screen goes blank when you load a post that jumps you to Safari. Takes forever to load if you're lucky. If it loads takes forever to be able to scroll page and then most times the screen goes blank and will not reload. Annoying when you want or need to read something. Most of this has got to be happening because of reloading the quantum amount of ads and extranious videos.
Pretty good, but a few annoyances
iPhone 6S on iOS 9.2.1 This app works better than it used to, but there are still frustrations. For instance, when I go to post a comment or reply to a comment, I will hit the Post button and the entire post will slide away without posting the comment. If I go back to the post my comment is still sitting there, waiting to be posted, but man is that irritating. Another issue is some notifications simply do not respond unless you close the app and go back in. Some work fine, random others just don't work. Also when viewing a profile, sometimes it only displays a few posts and you have to go back out and in again to see the rest. Otherwise it's much easier to use than it once was.
Update again: Latest update (Feb 5, 2016) has made the app nonfunctional on 6S+. It starts to load, then closes. Repeatedly. I've restarted the phone, deleted and redownloaded the app, still the same. Basically, they released an update that doesn't work. Anybody ever heard of testing? Neither Facebook nor Apple should have let this update through.
Update: Latest update (update for iOS 9) makes the app freeze constantly. Since iOS 9 was available in beta for weeks, there's no excuse for this. Plenty of time to test and fix the app, but that apparently wasn't done.
Previously: The most recent update feels like a giant step backward: the app is now excruciatingly slow and freezes up regularly. Pictures take a long time to load or often won't load at all. Photos I post take a long time to show up, or occasionally don't show up at all. Not sure what they did that constituted an update, but these downgrades in functionality are very frustrating.
And the app still changes my news feed to "top stories" despite my choosing "most recent." I am not interested in Facebook's idea of what I should want to see; I want a chronological feed. When I choose that option from the settings, I would like it to stay chosen.
