Photojournalists have a saying, "f/8 and be there," meaning that being on the scene is more important than worrying about technical details. Yet with f/8, the depth-of-field and hyperfocal distance calculator for the iPhone and iPod touch, you'll be there with the depth of field spot-on, too! Anywhere, anytime!
With f/8, all parameters and values are shown on a single screen with no scrolling required. All calculations are performed interactively in real time for maximum efficiency. The concept of camera bag provides fast access to the bodies, cameras, and lenses regularly used.
f/8 comes with presets for more than 800 camera models from Canon, Casio, Epson, Fujifilm, HP, Kodak, Konica, Kyocera, Leica, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh, Samsung, Sigma, and Sony. There are also presets for various film formats (i.e., 35mm, 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, 4x5, 5x7, 8x10), and cinematographic formats (i.e., 16mm, Super 16, 35mm). Furthermore, by choosing a circle of confusion (and, optionally, built-in lens) directly, camera models currently not listed can be user-defined. For lenses, f/8 allows not only the focal lengths to be specified but also their maximum aperture and minimum focus distance to conveniently adjust the range of input parameter allowed.
NOTE: f/8 does not use or manipulate the camera of the iPhone.

Does what it's supposed to do. A few issues:
It is not current with cameras. I have the 5D Mark III, which has been out for awhile, yet the app doesn't have it yet. It also is prone to crashing, and tell me a lot of what I already know. I feel the price is a bit much given what it does and the fact that it's not up to date with technology (in fact it's well over 6 months behind).
Two major defects
This product has two major defects: First, the distances are only in the metric system, and for us provincials, the conversion, particularly for near objects, is more difficult than it should be; Second, and more importantantly, the near focussing distance is 4 meters, which is much too far for serious landscape photography, where a near object, within a foot or two of the lens, is very important to the composition.
OUTDATED..Out of business??
This app is very out of date and it appears the company/app developer is out of business. I tried to contact them via their ‘Developer Website’ link. On the site it has a Support/Contact us link. However, when I sent an email, I immediately received this reply "Delivery Notification: Delivery has failed”. Don’t make the same mistake I did…my bad. Last update is dated Jan 2011.
