Ok app

I had the free intro app to start, I liked the compass much better on that one, & I liked the alert it gave when I was within 30ft of the cache, this app does not have it. I extremely dislike how many times I have to click something to submit my find, ex: find it, write a message, ok the message, share with friends in fb or twitter?...I don't even have twitter....kind of a pain to hit a button 4x just to find it. As with other complaints I dislike the 'load more searches' i wish it would just show all in the area I'm at. The real only upgrade is having more caches to find along with the different types of caches. Just FYI if u post a profile pic and don't edit it before u upload it, it will upload upside down or however u took the pic, think it's an IPhone thing. I've noticed in rocky areas the gps & compass can be about 20ft off. All in all it's a fun app, hopefully it will upgrade and fix a few things the reviews mention.

Incomplete app.

For $10, this app should be complete for the everyday geocacher (amateur to expert). It does have its benefits over the intro such as having more than just traditional hunts and being able to log and place trackables but it is still lacking in a couple areas that REALLY NEED TO BE ADDED to the next update.

First, you should be able to hide a cache from this app as you are standing at its location. For now, you have to download another app to get the coordinates, save them, then go to a computer and hid it on the site.

Secondly, the map on the Intro app allows you to see only traditional placements but what makes that map better is you can see all of them by moving or resizing the map. You can't with this app unless you continue to click to add more results and then it only adds a few from your current position. So you have to add & add & add. If you are like me I have to go a distance to find 'new to me' caches and I like to know where I am going before I leave.

The compass is ok and pretty accurate but could be improved a little.

For an Apple app and $10, these issues should definitely be considered and fixed. For now, I have to use both the Intro and paid for apps together and still rely on my PC for hiding.

And until these are corrected you get 3 stars and come in second to the Droid app c:geo for Geocaching.

And that's my 2 cents.

Worth the money

There seems to be a lot of complaints or mild recommendations for this ap. Mainly I guess because it's relatively expensive compared to free, but for $10 you get a very useful program for geocaching. It's obvious that a lot of work went into designing it and I don't blame them for charging a few dollars for it. I admit, it could have more features like an easier way to save your present location or give driving directions to the cache, but I don't think that there is a dedicated handheld GPS that works as well as this for what it does. If you have wi fi or cell service you can easily find and navigate to any geocaches in your area. That alone is worth the price. If you are a serious geocacher, you will also want a dedicated GPS, but for casual users, this program alone will get you started and let you try geocaching for a minimal investment.
