What's New in Version 3.4.2
This is primarily a bug fix release.
If you rely on Speedtest to diagnose connectivity issues and keep your Internet service provider and carriers honest, we'd be thrilled if you would leave us some feedback in the App Store. Thanks and happy testing!
In the past I had basically used this app mostly to verify connectivity and nothing more. Recently I began experiencing intermittent drop outs of my service at home. After checking all of my in house connections and equipment I determined the problem must be somewhere with the provider. Of course, each time I would call them the service would be operational and nothing would get done. I used this app to test connection speeds at various time, store the results and was able to give proof, dates and times, of the failures. To make a long story short, this app was instrumental in assisting me with finally getting my provider to get off their tail and do their job! Awesome app! Don't leave home without it!
I RARELY rate apps
But when I do, it is very important to consider them. Not only is this app outstanding and cutting edge, but it gives you an accurate representation of your link speeds. Ookla isn't lobbied or influenced by ISPs and MOST speed test sites are. For an example, if you do not have comcast internet but you go and check your speeds on comcast's website, they will lie to you to attempt to win you over as a customer. It's a very smart move by them when you think about it. Any way, back to this app. I will forever support them until I hear that they have accepted bribes by ISPs. These guys are the real deal!
I've been using it for years, Couldn't be better
Minus the ads but it is a free app so not a big deal. Great way to check my phone carriers speed and home internet speed, I've never experienced any issues with the app. Easily 5 stars.
FWIW (Short rant) Comcast has the worst internet available I pay for "50 over 50" But I've never seen it even close to 20. The download is around 13mbps and the upload is top 7mbps if I'm lucky! And I get those results with a very nice modem/router and with only my phone accessing it OR via my computer only which is hard wired.
I don't have Verizon FiOS in my new place so I have no choice but Comcast, Absolutely monopoly I wish we could boycott them!
At the last place I lived I had Verizon FiOS and I had 50 over 50 literally all of the time...On all devices, Regardless of how many devices connected at the same time!
Sorry for the non-app related rant but I'm sure a lot of people are going through the same issue.
