Customer Reviews

This app is not for real people living in the real world

Most fish in grocery stores doesn't have the level of information on the label that the app specifies, nor do most restaurant menus. The list I downloaded from your website a few years ago was much more useful. I was looking for an update, but this app is overwhelming in its specificity of information that I can't verify when I'm buying fish. Why not tell me which brands and restaurant chains are better or worse. I just wanted to know if wild Alaska salmon is still ok and what kind of canned tuna is ok or to be avoided, but I'm no better off than before I looked at the app. This app is apparently designed for wealthy foodies, not for ordinary consumers trying to make better choices. By the way, Apple, you dumped my whole review when my nickname was already taken. Why don't you tell me to pick a different nickname BEFORE I type a whole paragraph with one finger?!

App is constantly crashing, search doesn't work

I'm really disappointed as this my own org's app. I went to use the other night just to check on the status of sustainable fish offerings at Trader Joe's and sadly the app could not even search 'ahi' or 'tuna' and crashed several times for no apparent reason. The UI is very confusing, when you select a fish that pops up in the search you can see the rating but then there is no rating available on the details of that fish. The intro video is way too long and launches every time the app launches, this is excessive and turns off most users.

Buggy and overwhelming to use

The app regularly freezes and closes, while simply going through the A-Z search.

I also appreciate the level of specificity, but it's hard (for a layman) to decipher between different types of the same animal. This makes it really difficult to use while on the go (or meal planning).

It would be helpful if -- for each color -- there was an option for "most common" to be able to tell what variety of a specific animal restaurants or stores are PROBABLY selling (and therefore would be able to make the best informed choice).

Some lists -- of "best" or "avoid" varieties -- are long, and occasionally differ only in harvesting type (rather than only the location from which the seafood is coming.)

I'm used to the simple and easy to read tri-fold cards the aquarium has on location, so this was just way too overwhelming.
