What's New in Version 1.0.2
・iOS 4.0 compatibility
・Fixed crash at startup
・New icon for Retina display
・Numerous bug fixes
Okay, so now that they've finally fixed the 4.0 issue...
Playing screen in both games (the original and the remix) is extremely small, although somewhat more tolerable in the remix. Controls are not very sensitive and those who loved DigDug in the past know that you have to be able to cut sharp corners, make sudden turns and get very close to enemies to play the game right. That becomes a real challenge in this version. Neither set of controls work very well. They should have made the controls completely touch-and-swipe based, which would open up much more of the screen area. Okay, so you can touch and swipe somewhat in this version but it's poorly realized. Even though this is a relatively new app the game has been around for so long on so many different platforms, all made by Namco Bandai, that they should have worked out some of these issues before releasing the app. Sound effects and movement on the screen is spot-on to the original but the area is so small and the controls so clunky that the game is almost unplayable. One of those games that probably works great on an iPad but that's no excuse for such a shoddy version on the iPod. Overall a HUGE disappointment. Needs some major work.
Needs an update - poor controls - Barely playable
I really wanted to love this game but it suffers from one major downfall, its controls. WIthout being able to change direction quickly the game is not very much fun.
Classic game: (The only reason I bought this game)
The D-Pad control- Much too small and not very responsive as well. It makes it very hard to change directions quickly.
Swipe Controls - these are just useless - You end up moving your fingers all over the screen trying to get the movement you want and end up blocking what you need to see - Also not very responsive and difficult to make 90 degree turns when you need to.
You should either increase its size or model it after the one you designed for Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man. Both of those games have much improved joystick type controls. It would also be good to make it possible to tap the screen anywhere to engage the pump.
One more thing…It needs an update for the iPhone 4's Retina Display, it just looks blurry, would rather see the games native pixelation.
Dig Dug, Not For Everyone
There are 2 things you've gotta know before you get this game.#1 You should really like Dig Dug if you want to get this, Because 2.99 isn't cheep. #2 If your an adult and have an iPad, you should download Dig Dug on that, an iPhone is more for kids with small fingers. Now that we're done with the cons, let's get to the pros. There are two very fun versions of Dig Dug, the Original has all the challenges and fun you remember, Remix has new villeins, power ups, and worlds. Dig Dug is back.. and on the App Store! ( Note to Namco. Please allow other owner's high scores be on all my game, my initials are EVERY WHARE! Please add Game Center support ( like PAC MAN Champion Edition ). And please, please, please, make an app for Boscoian!!, I'll be waiting...)
