ESPN Gamecast Rocks
I must admit that I haven't tried a lot of the features ... However ... What I can say is that they are very good about pushing notifications 24/7 about your favorite teams (which you can edit anytime), and the scores stay recent pretty well. I guess my favorite feature is the real time gamecast ... If you can't get constant updates through video or audio streaming ... not to worry ... Gamecast gives a constantly updated score and all kinds of stats. Even pitch by pitch updates in baseball including pitch locations and graphics for when a ball is put in play. For football you get a graphic of the field with location, down, distance, timeouts remaining, and time left on the clock. Only small gripe is that updates are sometimes a little too slow, and there is the occasional lock up that takes a while to unfreeze. Everything that's good is so good that I couldn't rate below 4 stars.
When I turn to ESPN I do so to stay relevant with Sports updates. These should include scores, team information, coaches updates, draft implications, and personnel updates.
It seems as though in the past several months more time is spent on what I call the "people magazine" approach. If I wanted this I would subscribe to people magazine. I've seen articles on drugs, racial insensitivity, gay issues, theft and other what I call sensational topics that seem to get the lion share of attention and this persists for days.
If there is a place for this which I understand there maybe, for a larger audience, limit this to minimum coverage as it should be rather than the focal point of your story for that day.
I look forward to hearing more about sports as ESPN use to report on
Latest update is a huge step in right direction. Being able to click on individual teams really cool. It opens with latest scores but I'd personally rather have it open to the team's news stream (better would be option for user to select in settings). Also cool that you are not limited to only your favorite teams & conferences like on iPad version. Nonetheless, other than the minor detail of scores instead of news stream navigating through new layout was easy to figure out. Wondering what else I will discover. A month into this & it's slow to load scores - sometimes the wrong date. They probably need a lager server with everyone downloading the app.
