Great app to monitor sleeping patterns

I purchased a monthly subscription thinking I could better monitor and adjust my sleep based on sleeping patterns, which I have had a chance to do with the app, but that's not always the case because it really comes down to remembering; if the app had the ability to set a reminder or some type of notification on a specific time frame then that would make once less thing of having to remember at the end of the day. Other than that I really find the app useful and a good way to see what bad sleeping patterns I've developed by getting a visual representation with charts, also the way the app wakes you up gently durning your lightest stages of sleep is awesome, it really is; plus the tones used to wake you up makes it so great. Nothing more annoying and frustrating than hearing a loud alarm clock or buzzer wake you up while you're in deep sleep, guarantee you'll be waking up tired and in a cranky mood; try it for yourself. Finally, a word of advice, if you like getting at least 8 hours of sleep be sure to adjust the time frame of when the alarm is set to go off at about 8 1/2 hours since the recommend wake up phase is usually between 30 mins before your actual wake up time; keep in mind that it's trying to wake you up at the lightest stage of your sleep which is usually 30 mins or so before the time you actually wake up on a daily basis; for example when you wake up to go to work or class in the morning.

The Secret to Waking up on Time

I think I have found the perfect combination of alarm clocks. I always set Sleep Cycle to be my first alarm, and another app called SpinMe Alarm Clock as my backup. Sleep Cycle usually wakes me up in my optimal wake up time, but sometimes it just isn’t enough for me and I’ll either snooze through it or turn it off and go back to bed. If Sleep Cycle fails to wake me up, my backup alarm SpinMe will start blaring which can only be turned off if I get out of bed and spin around twice before it finally shuts off! Crazy but it works and I haven’t been late to work since I started doing this. And no you can't just spin the phone around in your hand!

Sleep Cycle really does help in waking you up during your light sleep. I can feel it working most mornings. And I have studied the science behind sleep so I can attest that the premise of this app isn’t merely a placebo, but something that has actually been proven. However the problem that this alarm clock doesn’t solve is that sometimes (especially on nights where you get very little sleep), it can be really easy to ignore your alarm clock and really hard to wake up. That’s where SpinMe Alarm comes in, an alarm clock that is impossible to ignore and forces you awake. I highly recommend using these 2 alarms together. Best few dollars I’ve ever spent!

Great, still missing a few luxuries

First, this app is great, and the latest update is fantastic! It works well and it's well designed. That said, there are a number of features I wish it had—they all exist in various other alarm apps, but those ones don't have the motion tracking ability this app does. For instance, it doesn't let me set some sort of challenge to disable the alarm (to make sure I'm really awake).

I also frequently wake up, turn off my alarm, and accidentally fall asleep again, and another app with motion tracking lets me set a toggle such that it will go off again if it doesn't detect any motion for a few minutes.

In addition, it has a feature where it will confirm with you if you set the alarm to a PM time. The idea behind this is great, but it's implemented poorly: if I'm going to bed at 3 AM and set an alarm for 1:00, what are the odds that I'm planning to sleep for 10 hours compared to the odds that I'm planning to sleep for 22 hours? It should really be a ">12 hour" confirmation rather than a "PM" confirmation.

Other features I wish it had include:
- automatically record audio when noise is detected (sleep talking)
- set a reminder for after the alarm is dismissed ("remember to wear a tie today!")
- provide a place to record notes upon waking (dream journal)

There are others that I've thought of that I can't remember at the moment, but that's all for now.
And all that said, it's a great app, and I believe it's the best option of its kind!
