What's New in Version 3.5.1
Hey, New Yorkers! Upgrade your Macy's app now for the best in-store shopping experience at Macy's Herald Square.
This is a very good department store application that provides everything for the regular Macy's customer. For one users can shop all of the departments and checkout easy. The shopping experience is intensive in that users can customize how item results are displayed and filter by almost any measure. Users can filter by special offers, clothing style, brand, size, color, weight, features and even fabric. Users can quickly see if a item is available and the regular and if listed sale price. Users can also create, manage and find registries from the app. Users can also look up stores locations and details such as whether a particular Macy's offers a particular customer service. Users can also scan items from in store and save the results to view later in the day. Users can even look up and redeem current store promotions as well as use a link from the coupon to shop the items that are eligible. Macy's account or card owners can even manage their account from the app. The only drawbacks are that the menu is a bit cramped and could be refined. The app can also be sluggish at times but it performs better than the ratings given to it. It definitely fits the bill for mobile shopping.
Worst shopping app ever
Macy's... I'm trying to give you my money by shopping in your app. Apparently you don't want to actually make money since this app makes it almost impossible to shop.
What happened here? Did you hire people who have never coded an app before? Did you actually test the app before you released it?
Have you bothered to read all the 1-star reviews? Why aren't you ashamed of this app?
Problems include (but are not limited to):
1. You have to log in before you shop every single time. If you don't log in first, when you try to log in during the check out process, it either empties your cart or it goes into an endless loop. This bug has existed for over 2 years.
2. The app is ridiculously slow. I feel like I'm using a dial-up connection on my Commodore 64.
3. Lots of random freezes and crashes.
4. No iPad version.
None of this would be so bad if Macy's mobile website was better but it was apparently coded by the same people who made this crappy app.
My suggestion: shop elsewhere. Other stores that actually care about their customers have good mobile apps.
Macy's... Stop justifying your poor profitability to your shareholders. Maybe if your app and mobile site
worked, you would make more money.
Two Thumbs Way Down
This is an embarrassing app - and from Macy's, of all retail outlets? Let me use a metaphor. Imagine a seasoned kayaking veteran (Macy's - an established retail giant) about to take a routine trip down some class 3 waves (doing something fairly simple for a firm with such far reaching resources. I.e. creating an app). And instead of using his kayak, he throws a 40 foot log in the water, hops on that log, and proceeds into the rapids. Imagine how clunky, unnatural, and uncoordinated that would look. This app is the digital shopping equivalent of that kayaking experience. Completely useless. Slow, doesn't respond well, stylistically - looks like a child drew the design. Just a terrible user experience. And such a shame, because I like Macy's.
I will most certainly keep spending my time inside the Nordstrom app (which is amazing by the way).
