Earn and activate "Family Frenzy" power-ups to summon help from Marge, Maggie, Lisa and Bart, who can come to Homer’s rescue. He’s gonna need it!

Use touch and accelerometer controls to “Slap Homer” back to life, indulge in “Doughnut Dreams,” or engage in a hilarious “Inflato-Head” balloon blowing up contest. Can all this be real? Of course not, jerk, it’s a video game played on a cell phone. But it’s pretty close!

Listen to your own music as you play this daring and sugary arcade adventure. Suuure. Your music is much better than ours. We only do this for a living!

Short But Sweet

I bought this game as soon as I saw it. I finished it in only a few hours. It's a very short game-6 stages that take no more than 15 minutes each-and doesn't seem to boast any replay value, but nevertheless, I can't help but love it. It's the Simpsons, after all! The graphics are beautiful as is the sound-though I wish there was less dialog and more voice acting-and it can be so funny, especially when Homer loses a life.
Though it's called The Simpsons Arcade, it is not the same game you might remember from a few decades ago: you can only play as Homer-the other family members make cameos as special attacks-and there is no multiplayer. The only similarities are that it's a brawler, which you will either find tedious after the first few minutes or enjoy in spite of the repetition inherent in all brawlers, and it's based on The Simpsons. If you're a fan and you enjoy games such as Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and, of course, The Simpsons Arcade, then you should give it a shot. The ride won't last long, but it'll definitely be fun!

Four Star game with Five Star Bugs

This game really needs the ability to continue where you left off.

After all, it is on a telephone, right? Plus, the developer had a long time to fix this flaw, but NOTHING has been done to fix it! There are too many quality iPhone applications out there to bother with one that makes you start from the very beginning every time you get a phone call or need to run another application. I thought multitasking on an iPhone 4 might allow you to get back to where you were by using task switching, but sadly, it does not.

Imagine making great progress, getting pretty far, then your phone rings. Now you have to start from scratch? It asks if you want to continue, but it just continues your score, not your play. Probably a bug.

Speaking of bugs, it crashes and that has the same effect... start over again. You can spend upwards of an hour... when your phone rings or the application crashes, prepare to start over again.

I do not think there is another game in the application store that has a bug or design that annoying, and I am really surprised it has not been fixed after being relased for such a long time. Even 50% off with those flaws should make a smart buyer keep looking!

Decent Simpson's Arcade Homage

At it's core The Simpson's Arcade is a nice attempt at paying homage to the old 4 player Arcade game, but really it just brings up the question "Why not port the old game?" This is a fun little time killer, but not the greatest game out there. The controls are, like most iPhone games, not the best and could use a little tightening up. The enemies don't seem to have much thought put into them (Special Agent, Special Agent in different suit, Special Agent that looks like Burt Reynalds, Special Agent with Krusty's head, ect). I would have liked to see more enemies to fight, but the special agents did mix things up with differing attacks based on color of suit and facial hair. The boss fights were fun, though, as each was a different Simpsons cameo.

All in all this game cannot stand up to the original Simpson's Arcade Game, but did a really nice job trying. It's worth a purchase at $.99, maybe even up to $1.99, but I wouldn't go any further then that.
