What's New in Version 4.1.6
- minor bug fixes
Another App update, time to resubmit my one star review
It's amazing how many "bug fixes" ABC feels like they need to fix ever since restricting access to "participating providers." This is the second in less than a week! Of course, the real reason for the constant "bug fixes" is so that the bad reviews get hidden--and it seems like hardly anyone is happy with this once great app (frankly, if the app really has so many bugs, I would think that they would be totally embarassed). I'm here to refresh my bad review, and I will continue to do so with every update until ABC, at the very least, acknowledges that many of us are really disappointed. So far, they have been silent which I interpret as a metaphorical middle finger pointed right at me.
I used this App from the first time that I got my 1st gen iPad--it was one of my favorites for a long time. Now, it's not enough that we pay a cable bill, our providers are expected to pay ABC even more so that users can use this app--of course, then passing the cost of this on to us as cable subscribers. Sorry ABC, you've become much too greedy. I suspect that the number of illegal downloads has gone up as a result. . . and you are to blame. In the meantime, until ABC makes all content immediately available to all users, I hope that they enjoy the hundreds of one-star reviews. I will continue to resubmit my review until ABC recognizes that they really did a disservice to millions of users.
Extremely Poor App Design!
ABC must think we are idiots if they expect us to watch so many repetitive ads while navigating around one episode of a TV show!
The navigation bar has frustrating advertisement walls between segments of an episode which requires replaying already-viewed ads when dragging the cursor back to the beginning of a segment. Furthermore, the navigation bar disappears while the ads are replaying, so it is impossible to correct an accidental cursor movement until all five ads are finished. Apps from other TV networks have a convenient 30-second "backup" icon which avoids this issue, but not ABC.
Another major annoyance is the app will abort playback and return to the episode list if I unintentionally rotate my iPhone from horizontal to vertical. When this happens, the app neglects to remember my position within the episode. This requires replaying all of the ads in order to advance the cursor to the segment that was interrupted. If the episode was almost finished, then I must replay a dozen ads just to watch the last minute of a show!
Finally, the ads within a single episode are very repetitive -- the same ad appears at multiple places in an episode. Watching an identical ad over and over again in a short timespan causes me to have no desire for the product being advertised.
ABC come on. This used to be a halfway decent app and now it won't even open. Take some hints from the NBC app, it's not perfect but it's miles ahead of this app. Your app is garbage, and with the way that television is being viewed these days you need to get on board with a decent app or become irrelevant. Even when your app did work for me it required an insane amount of broadband to even function to the point where you could discern the picture. I get on average 22 Mbps upload and that is more than enough to stream any other app with no problems. What is the problem? Why can't you make an app on one of the the largest platforms without it crashing or failing to work at all? We already have to put up with your absurd amount of repetitive commercials and now your app has become entirely dysfunctional. Fix this or you will see a drop in ratings if you haven't already.
