One reason I hate and don't love this app

I hate this app for one simple reason: they absolutely sinisterly block the ability to copy or send a full article to friends or colleagues. You cannot copy an article. You cannot mail anything more than a sentence or two. You cannot open it in a phone browser and do either one either. Once you "share" an article the recipient cannot view the full article without subscribing. They are so concerned about subscription revenue they've crippled the usefulness of this app. For the record I am a subscriber and love the app otherwise. You would think they would allow subscribers to share but they don't. I have tried to share useful articles with my college-age children and it's been frustrating.

From the creators of the Obamacare website?

The latest app started out great as I read all the way through one article without a crash. My hopes were high. Pushing my luck, I started a second article. Three crashes later I called it quits. The good news: someone, somewhere, must have the original, excellent WSJ program in a drawer - now if they would just pull it out and reissue it, we'd be back to where we started, the best app out there.

Hopefully it's as frustrating for WSJ as it is for paid subscribers.

Sadly, the future is behind us

With great trepidation, I downloaded vers. 5.5.8 of the WSJ app (which I have been using since vers. 1.3 in Sept. 2010). The good news: After 30 mins of use, I have had no crashes. The bad news: The 30 mins was required just to get thru the Front, World, and U.S. sections because the page loads are still so s-l-o-w. S—l—o—w. But the WSJ will be happy. The ads come up immediately. Of course.
