Don't trust Tapbots
Paid full price ($1.99 each) for both Calcbot and Convertbot in 2011 because I liked the UI. Both apps were badly neglected, and finally Convertbot got dropped entirely. Of course, I moved on years ago with other, better, regularly updated apps for both purposes. Now they want to make a comeback with a "free" app with IAP's. When I saw this in the "best new apps" section, I had to laugh.
So if you want to use this calc for free, knock yourself out, but I strongly recommend against dropping a nickel on these developers. They will likely take your money and abandon you.
Updated interface is ugly and harder to use
This is not the app I originally bought. The updated interface is ugly and harder to use. Yet another mundane act of sabotage on iOS and its apps by out-of-touch developers who are trying to remove all the art from computing because their minds are structured like a giant spreadsheet. No wonder nobody wants to spend money on apps anymore, when iOS apps now look and feel like Web apps, and yet have less stability. Just use a free calculator app, which look and feel just like this anyway.
Converting is a pain
You can't type in a number, go to the converter, and have it show up. So if you want to convert 3.6 miles to kilometers you have to go to the converter, select miles to kilometers, and it will show you what 1 miles equals. Then you can copy that, go back to the calculator, paste it in, and multiply it manually. I should be able to punch 3.6 into the calculator, swipe over to conversions, and have that be the number I'm converting instead of 1.
