What's New in Version 2.0.1
- Added calcbot:// URL handler
- Fixed issues with bluetooth keyboard support
- Various other minor bug fixes
Long time user of calc bot. It was designed really well. It was smart and intuitive. Now it erases your formulas before you're done working them out. The history is broken now. You get help messages every time you open. I used this app for electrical engineering. I can't even do a simple 20log(f) without wanting to chunk the phone across the room. Anytime you hit log the formula is done. Before you could backspace to change the last value and do quick calculations. It used to be good. Now they want to imitate droid calculator or something. I'm actually saddened by the bright colors and stupid layout. Used to swipe left for scientific functions. Now you have to turn the phone and use two hands. How can you work well always setting the pencil down? You have crushed my soul, and I gave it a fair shake. The update has been out a long time.
Don't trust Tapbots
Paid full price ($1.99 each) for both Calcbot and Convertbot in 2011 because I liked the UI. Both apps were badly neglected, and finally Convertbot got dropped entirely. Of course, I moved on years ago with other, better, regularly updated apps for both purposes. Now they want to make a comeback with a "free" app with IAP's. When I saw this in the "best new apps" section, I had to laugh.
So if you want to use this calc for free, knock yourself out, but I strongly recommend against dropping a nickel on these developers. They will likely take your money and abandon you.
Updated interface is ugly and harder to use
This is not the app I originally bought. The updated interface is ugly and harder to use. Yet another mundane act of sabotage on iOS and its apps by out-of-touch developers who are trying to remove all the art from computing because their minds are structured like a giant spreadsheet. No wonder nobody wants to spend money on apps anymore, when iOS apps now look and feel like Web apps, and yet have less stability. Just use a free calculator app, which look and feel just like this anyway.
