What's New in Version 2.4.2
Bug fix for a library refresh error affecting some customers.
Love the service, hate the app!
(Updates) Sure wish the actual app was easier to navigate, especially when I take into account that I am vicariously paying a monthly fee to use the service via monthly membership purchase. It's tricky to find out what chapter you're on and almost impossible to find your place if you get lost and try to figure out where you left off. (The sleep-timer is an awesome feature, but several screens hard to get to. This should be right in the main screen. I don't like having to FULLY wake up just to program my SLEEP -timer! This is a major flaw that needs to be fixed!) I also think it should update all your devices to the most recent point you left off on automatically... That's why "push" was invented. (This has now been fixed!). Why should I have to go out of the book, then into my settings, the request it to sync, then go back into my library, reopen the book and press play!!!! That's just ridiculous. (Also we should
have better SORT options and be able to view book/series info without having to switch to the internet site.) For such a fabulous website and product, which I DO love, the app is found to be lacking.
I Love Audible But This App Needs Work
I've been an Audible subscriber for many years and have used the Audible app since it has been available. On my iPhone 6+ the recent versions of this application have not lived up to my expectations. My biggest complaint, and I mean BIGGEST, is that if I leave the app paused for too long, or if I pause it and switch to another app to do something quickly (yes, I use my phone for other things!), I cannot resume playback by clicking the play button in the control center or using the pause/play button on my headphones. When I go back into the app, it brings me to the initial login screen for the Audible app. In order to get back to listening to my book, I have to kill the app (double click home and swipe up on the Audible app) then restart the audible app, and pick my book again. This is, frankly, rediculous. Even if the Audible app was the last app I had opened, this will still happen. Given that the primary function of this app is to allow me to listen to my library I find this bug to be extremely annoying. It hasn't always been this way, I couldn't tell you which version of this app introduced this bug, but I wish they would fix this in all haste as it seems to me to be a substantial degradation of service.
Works better than the iPod app on my iPhone.
I'm an audiobook JUNKIE with close to 1000 in my iTunes library. Several Apple updates ago Apple took away the chapter views. I fall asleep each night listening to a book and it very easy to find where I was at when sleep came. When you move the slide you're doing it for that chapter on. While trying to do the same on The iPod App it's for the ENTIRE book instead of just a single chapter. You have a much finer control when it just a chapter and instead of it being a whole 14 hour book.
Plus, when you download a book on your computer that you purchased from Audible it automatically moves itself into iTunes. No searching and trying to add it to your library. I use Macs so I don't know if they automatically move to iTunes with Windows.
This has nothing to do with the app but the exact book is considerably cheaper at audible. If you "read" a lot of audiobooks check out Audible.
