Fling support is ok
If you have the fling pad attached, it partially obscures dialog text. As there is plenty of space to fit the text in the dialog box you could simply move the text right more to allow it to not be covered. I wouldn't care except they specifically mention fling pad support.
Also, developers need to vsync more often (display link). It seriously makes your title look so much nicer and smoother.
Another criticism: If you hit the split up button, I've found that sometimes it's hard as hell to unsplit. I've tried hitting the same button again and sometimes it just doesn't register. I solved it by like randomly wandering around and pressing other buttons. If this is intentional you seriously need to add an error sound or something when you click on it.
And furthermore the melee combat starting out feels crappy. Like i walk up to a guy and start tapping the attack button repeatedly: sometimes my character is swinging on each attack, sometimes there's a long pause even though I am hitting the button. I see no status ailment or other indicator that I can't attack.
There has clearly some basic polishing left to do. In true JRPG style the focus was on graphics and content and simple user friendly polish was neglected.
The "terrible" are the parts when your know your missing something important and usually relatively insignificant during the game, but you cannot progress until you figure it out. Terrible because there are absolutely no maps available online or otherwise for any of the dudgeons. Terrible because you know you've over looked something totally simple but you cannot refer to a walkthrough because there is only one available online and the word "vague" gives it more credit than it deserves. "Fun" because it's so much fun that despite the times you want to pull out your hair because you just want to get on to the next step, you feel a sense of accomplishment you don't get when things are spoon fed. The game is challenging enough that you don't always know exactly what to do next without trial and error, but not so much that it absolutely cannot be figured out.
Good but not great
This game is molded after Zelda / Chrono Trigger. It's a good game but no where near as good as Zelda.
My main complaint is frequently getting stuck / lost / no idea what to do next. The environments are also pretty repetitive. Bosses are super easy and appear small on-screen. These are big drawbacks in my opinion. The past/present time warp is totally worthless from a value or aesthetic stand point.
On the good side - the game has 2 solid playable characters with different skills from one another, who work well as a tandem. It also has excellent graphics and good music.
I would overall not rate this game up there with the old console action-RPGs like Zelda, or Secret of Mana. It's fun to play but just a bit generic down the stretch. And frustratingly puzzling too often. You will be needing to read on-line what to do next, time and time again :/
