Easier than Access on my laptop
Oh. My. God. I am flabbergasted at how easy and functional this app is.
1st of all, transferring my database to both iPhone and iPad were an absolute breeze. Took no time at all.
But when I opened up the program on my ipad mini, I almost cried when I realized how much easier my life would become.
My table has so many fields that I was always scrolling sideways to view them. And I hadn't bothered creating a form because it was too much of a learning curve after having used the Microsoft Works database all these years. I only switched to Access so that I could get a compatible mobile app.
Well, when I opened this app on my tablet after transferring my database, I was very pleased to see all my info neatly laid out. I hadn't even read any instructions, just clicked on a record almost by accident. And a beautiful vertical form popped up that will be so easy to fill in as I'm getting the information over the phone.
I am delirious with happiness. Having constant access to my information from anywhere and being able to enter new information so easily is literally life changing for me. Thank you, Impathic.
Good basic table content editor, slow with really large tables
This has been a very useful app for editing data already organized into single simple tables. By reading the other reviews I was able to figure this out and to organize my data into simple tables before exporting to the iPad.
Two things that keep this from being a 5-star rating: no good foreign key support and very slow performance with very large (over 20,000 record) tables.
It would be very helpful to provide drop-down lists for selecting foreign key values. Trying to remember the right strings to fill in is a bit of a pain.
For editing large tables, I divided the rows among several tables, each with about 2000 records, and then performance improved significantly.
Good news is that the edits I made could be very easily brought back onto my main desktop computer.
All in all, it's not a total replacement for Access, but a very useful and easy-to-use app for editing simple records.
Great database app
This is the best iPhone version of MS Access available. I tried another database app which had a prettier interface, but it required $25 desktop sync software and several steps to work with Access. This app works directly with a normal Access database file on the iPhone, which I can copy back to the desktop computer. It keeps all my queries, and can run the straightforward ones. Search functionality is good. There are no forms, but promises of forms by the other database were greatly exaggerated. Finding part of a field just requires an extra step (using the "Is like" and "*whatever*"). Overall, it's a great app.
