Want to rock the guitar? Anytime, Anywhere?
Or wish you could play the guitar but never learned?
You can do all this and more with iAmGuitar!
There are up to 8 guitars to choose from, and now with Bass & Beat Backing Tracks, you have the whole band in your hand. Just choose the key you want to play in and Rock the Party.
You can easily record and share your compositions -- perfect for songwriters who get that magic idea on the spur of the moment and don't want to forget it.
To get that real guitar feel we included Easy Keys and Easy Chords. Select the song key and then easily switch between chords with the tap of a finger. Strum or pick strings individually.
You wont believe how easy it is, and how great iAmGuitar sounds. You can actually play real songs, or write your own! Use headphones and explore your inspirations anywhere, anytime!
This is a universal app with unique layouts for the iPod Touch/iPhone and the iPad.
Sounds best through headphones or speakers--the rich tones of the guitars aren't fully captured by the external speakers of your device.

Fun app for non-guitar players
I believe this app is a 5 star if you're not a musician or not a guitar player. For the ability to simply strum a chord, and have a family of chords that work together, this is a great app. The non-guitarist can suddenly hold their own with this app, which can be a fun experience.
For a guitar player, this is at best a 3 star app. The two things that I would like to see improve as a guitar player is the ability to build your own chords, (including the ability to work up and down the neck/fretboard) and the ability to pick multiple strings at once (also with the ability to work up and down the neck/fretboard). That would make it at least a 4 depending on the user friendliness of those features.
So if you are someone who cant play the guitar and is looking for something that allows you to strum some chords, and maybe you want to learn how keys and chord progressions work, this is a great app for you. If you are a musician and play the guitar well, the simplicity of this app could frustrate you if you're looking for a true simulated guitar experience. But let's be honest, that would be very hard to do.
Good for song ideas
I'm a guitar player and find this app to fun to play around with and useful for finding chord progression inspiration. I do think there's a lot of places the developers can take this and make it nearly indispensable for a guitarist/songwriter tool. It's a cool concept, they just to expand it. Also make it be compatible with Garageband would be a really nice touch. 3.5 stars for as is, but if they work on this, it can be a 5-star app.
Waste of time
This app took a long time to download, so I was expecting something at least useful . . There are only choices of a few chords in each key, the strings ring without being able to mute anything, some of the chords (the diminished chord in the key of G for instance) are just plain WRONG, and in spite of what I read about this app in Guitar World magazine, there seems no way to alter the volumes of the strums . . I didn't expect this to replace a real guitar, but still, I did expect better than this.
