Q. WHAT'S THE MINIMUM COMPATIBLE OS VERSION
A. 4.3 - so this won't work on 2nd Gen iPods, sorry, we know that sucks, but the technology just isn't there.
Q. IS THERE MULTIPLAYER?
A. Not yet, but we're working on it! The single player game has hours of fun - hopefully enough to keep you occupied until we get multiplayer up and running.
Q. DOES IT WORK ON THE iPAD
A. Yes it does. We're also planning on making a universal app that is part of our multiplayer update.
"War on Terror" is an absurdly addictive and wickedly satirical strategy game. It takes place in an imaginary world where there are no goodies and baddies, no real allies, only money. You must control the oil, fund & fight terrorism and do whatever it takes to liberate the entire planet. But don't panic, it's just a game.
SHOCK AND AWESOME!
This is a strategy game like no other - your task is liberate the world and save it from the evil clutches of terrorism. Along the way, you can team up with other players and form superficial alliances, as long as they serve your interests.
Each country contains a certain amount of sweet, sweet oil. Some have none; some have lots. Since liberation is a thirsty business, guess who gets liberated first?
And then there's terrorism. Awkwardly enough, you frequently end up funding the very terrorism you're trying to fight as you eradicate the greater threat posed by rogue empires (usually a former ally).
War on Terror is the ultimate game of the ends justifying the means.
WEAPON OF MASS DISTRACTION!
'War on Terror the application' is dripping in satirical humour and offers hours of subversive play. Here are some of the things that lie in store for you:
- All original artwork by award-winning illustrator, Tom Morgan-Jones
- Interactive world map, with 49 territories
- Dynamic oil distribution (every game is different)
- Advanced, reactive Artificial Intelligence
- Anonymous terrorist funding
- Original sound and music by Robert Taliesin Owen
- Features the best song ever penned by the one-and-only Jarvis Cocker!
- And perhaps the most disturbing credits screen in the history of video games
- Much more to come ...
"War on Terror" is based on the infamous, satirical board game of the same name. When it was originally released, "War on Terror the boardgame" caused some controversy for using a game to tackle such a serious subject. These days, the board game has been recognised as an important piece of satire and has been accepted into the permanent collections of the Bodleian Library and the Imperial War Museum, amongst others.
Terrorbull Games is an independent game design & publishing studio, based in Cambridge, England. This is not just our first iOS app, but our first ever digital game. It's been over a year in development and we are very proud of it and hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. Feedback, comments and suggestions are really welcome and we hope to develop this game together with the people that play it. Please send any feedback to email@example.com - Thanks for reading!
WARNING: features flashing images.
Risk but funnier.
This game is pretty danged fantastic. I haven't played the board game but I'm assuming it has some features that are harder to implement in an app. I got this for free the other day, and I want to pay you for it.
The great: Really engrossing addictive game play. I got it a couple days ago and hate to say this but I've played it for hours upon hours.
The good: I love the political satire aspect of it. I hope in the future you do more with this. It'd be great to see drone strikes. Maybe for the sake of hating everyone equally any updates should include a few cracks at our current death dealing plutocratic masters.
The not so good: The music is excellent at first but quickly gets less funny. Zany, madcap music, but after awhile, you end up muting it. This is a game you spend some time playing so those comedic elements need to fade into background some.
The save functionality, I'd gotten so used to games saving automatically when ever I went back to my home screen I didn't realize you actually had to save your game here. Not that I'm complaining so much. Talk about a 1st world problem.
Some improvements I'd love to see in the future:
Improved alliances, like where you could mutually declare war with your partner against an enemy.
And multiplayer support down the road.
Thanks again for such a fantastic game.
Addictive & Fun!!!
This is a very good game! Risk with added elements that are both fun and frustrating. Definitely keeps you on your toes!
A couple items to help take this to a 5/5 rating:
1) Needs a way to provide developer feedback without leaving it in a review.
2) Auto save / continue option should be added. If you exit a game to the home menu it saves, but if you go to another app it will reset and restart you through the cartoon intro. Also, Cloud saving to play across multiple devices would be great!
3) Cartoon intro needs an option to skip. Please. Fun at first, but gets old quickly.
4) Alliance screen is buggy. Alliances you've made will show at the top, but not appear at bottom as an option to break. Also, empires that have been eliminated will still show up on this screen at times.
5) Game Center Support, Achievements, and of course Online Multi-Player will all enhance and take this game to a whole other level of enjoyment.
Thanks for creating such a fun game.
Keep up the great work!!!
Strategy & Challenge
A game that combines world domination like Risk, resource rolling like Catan, and money money money like Monopoly. Yes, it is a dream come true.
This world domination and all about the money. Get those high oil countries and build them up to make even more. Find a balance of expensive war and thriftier terrorist funding. Amass continent power and blow your dough on awesome nukes.
Looking forward to future updates to get multiplayer and full iPad support (universal app). Also looking forward to getting the physical board game and introducing this to more friends too. So far, everyone has fallen deeply deeply in love.
