Former Urbanspoon User
Was a big user of urbanspoon until they made the switch to zomato. That app is terrible, this one is awesome. I like that you can put notes in for each place without having to write a review that everyone sees, you can zoom out on the map to see where you've been and where you want to go, it's not just restaurants, you can put bars in, pretty awesome app. Only flaw is once you type a note you can't edit it, you can only erase it and start over. But not that big of a deal.
Won't try again
Pros: keep private, custom notes for bookmarks, including tags and "recommended by". Easy to see basic restaurant/ venue info, map, link to Yelp.
Cons: CRASHES and loses my work. Reverts to old content. I downloaded this app 3 yrs ago and loved it. Then it started crashing, losing bookmarks, even showing me notes from someone else's account. They've redesigned a couple times; and I've optimistically given this app a couple more chances. Design is pretty good now but I cannot trust it to save the work I've put in to bookmark, make notations, and add places that aren't in their DB.
Recommended enhancements: stop crashing, filter by tag, beef up database.
Want to love it; functionality is lacking.
The app does not work with location services disabled, and even with location services enabled will not allow you to look up a restaurant in some other location to be saved for future reference. This makes it useless for looking up and saving anything recommended offline by friends or reviews, etc.
