Does just what it says - and that's absolutely perfect
I have dozens of restaurants that I like to frequent and I am always looking for places to potentially add to the list. I've tried to do this in Yelp, Urbanspoon, and others. I've even tried using maps and simply making lists in note apps. None has really worked all that well. One afternoon in this app and I have gotten a much better lists of restaurants to try and old favorites. We often go out sour of the moment and this app makes it simple what's nearby. If I pass an interesting looking restaurant I can quickly find it and add it to the list. It has just the right amount of functionality to make it useful.
Only two gripes - I wish I could filter by tags.
Also, I wish they had a similar app for events so that I could see recurring events I've enjoyed and are coming up. Too often we are busy and miss events we have enjoyed in the past. This developer understands how to make this sort of app usable. I wish they would apply that to events as well as restaurants...
UPDATED: New version deleted all my data
UPDATE: Pretty unhappy about the new version since it deleted ALL my data. It says I have 0 entries, and there's no way I'm going to go through the effort of re-entering in my 75+ locations. What's the point of this app remembering something for you if it has amnesia? Great idea, terrible execution.
This is a great solution for foodies who love to keep track of their favorite restaurants but also take note of places they walk by & don't want to forget. The map feature is key, but there are plenty of ways this app could be improved even further. I would love to see filtering options on the map itself & a better tagging feature (show my most recent tags first so I don't have to type "brunch" in 200 times, have the list sort from shortest to longest so "brunch in scandenavia" isn't the first option I accidentally click, etc). I could easily see this getting incorporated with friends (sending a person a pin to drop on their map as a recommendation where the other person could accept/deny) & tying it in with Open Table so you can instantly reserve a restaurant. There's a large upwards limit for this app - would love to see it flourish and spread!
Former Urbanspoon User
Was a big user of urbanspoon until they made the switch to zomato. That app is terrible, this one is awesome. I like that you can put notes in for each place without having to write a review that everyone sees, you can zoom out on the map to see where you've been and where you want to go, it's not just restaurants, you can put bars in, pretty awesome app. Only flaw is once you type a note you can't edit it, you can only erase it and start over. But not that big of a deal.
