"Discovr Launches Awesome Tool To Find New Apps On iOS" - Techcrunch
Discovr Apps makes it easy to discover new apps for your iPhone & iPad.
Simply search for an app that you like or choose from one of our featured apps. We’ll show you how the apps you choose are connected in a massive, never-ending map of the App Store, and we’ll give you great recommendations for other apps to download.
When you find an app you like you can read the app descriptions, check out the screenshots and ratings, or buy it directly from the App Store. You can also share your favorite apps and maps with your friends via Twitter, Facebook or email.
Start with one of your favorite apps and we'll help you discover more great apps. Just start with something you like. Maybe it's Flipboard, or Instagram, or Foursquare, or Angry Birds, or any other app. We'll recommend something good for you.
Discovr Apps was developed by Australian startup Filter Squad - the team that brought you Discovr Music.

A great app -- super useful
This is a wonderful app, and the best way I have found to search for apps by function. The App Store is pretty hopeless, as the categories are too broad & vague, and one can only search by name. I do search in the Store by linking to "other customers have purchased" but that doesn't give as much info as discovr does. And the Wish list feature is very helpful; when I find an app in the store that I may want, the only way I can put it on a "wish list" is to take a screen shot of the description.
I have this app pinned at the bottom of my screen so I can find it quickly when I'm browsing in the App Store or reading about apps in some publication and look for similar apps.
I just downloaded and tried it out.
The Favorities, which I guess are initially populated from your own installed apps, only include some, not all, installed apps. It's missing a lot of mine. Why?
Its selections are odd or lacking. I typed in Waze, and it did NOT produce either Motion-X GPS Drive or MapQuest, two most-similar apps (I have all three).
Likewise, selecting MapQuest doesn't produce Waze but does produce Motion-X GPS; selecting Motion-X Drive produces Waze and not MapQuest.
Select RL Classic (the older RedLabel barcode scanner), and it does NOT come up with the RedLaser current version. Weird.
Edit: would like to remove recommended apps, like Apple's Genius.
Awesome with room for perks
This app is awesome. It is very useful, and fun to use... One thing I would love to see, and this is true for the music and app finder apps also... Could you add an option to toggle if you've seen the movie or not? Something visual, like an aura of a different color or something... So i can see at a glance if i've already seen it.
Also, are you guys planning on doing an App like this for books? Cause that would also rock. Thanks.
