What's New in Version 2.2
In this version we've made numerous changes and improvements to how the app receives data updates.
I honestly don't understand the negative reviews!
I downloaded this about a week ago. Then, I paid $4.99 to have access for an entire year to all the 48 Hours episodes from 2005 until now. To use it, we just open the app up on our iPad, mirror it up through the Apple TV to our television, and watch the episodes of our choosing on our tv. (Or we just watch them right on our iPad). Easy, simple. We've already watched several episodes of 48 Hours with this app and have had absolutely no problems. We were even able to watch the most recent 48 Hours episode with this app before the episode even broadcast on tv. And, the picture was a clear as a bell. Honestly, I do not understand the negative reviews because as I said, we have already watched several episodes through this app and have had absolutely no trouble with it. If you are a 48 Hours fan as we are, I highly recommend that you give it a try. I truly don't think you'll be disappointed.
Worth the money when it works. Fix the bugs and I'll be happy
The content is great when it's accessible, but the app crashes frequently and never remembers I've already purchased it. If I pause an episode and come back to it later, it never remembers where in the episode I was, it'll just start from the beginning. Older "classic" episodes mostly don't actually play or are poorly mastered and not fun to watch. If you try to watch an older episode that was later re-aired, the older version won't work, I have to search for the episode name, find the most recently aired version, and watch that-- it's annoying. The developers of this app just need to work through the bugs more b/c having access to these episodes is definitely worth the $5, but the app should better show all content that is promised with the purchase. Thanks.
Constant streaming issues...
I'm not sure if it's just the older episodes, as I'm starting with classics and working my way forward, but I've only made it through about 3 episodes that don't have a streaming error. I know it's not my internet, as I use it to stream other things daily. I get a playback error and if I start the episode again it starts from the beginning and if it reaches that specific point again, it freezes and gives an error report. Some episodes have several spots where this happens. Any ideas how to get around this?
Edited to add that I wrote the above paragraph months ago and have never heard back from any sort of support (I also contacted support directly). I'm now getting a message upon start up that because the developer hasn't updated the app in so long that it will cause the iPad to run slowly... now the episodes won't run at all. I'd go for a refund but I'm sure it would be a major waste of time.
