What's New in Version 1.3.2
*Numerous bug fixes.
Make no mistake, the controls in this game make it absolutely UNPLAYABLE!! I have had about 10 hours to get used to the controls and they are so bad that playing this game makes me think I'd have more fun plunging my toilet... Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Katamari fan on PS2 and PS3 and own almost all of the console versions. Even Beautiful Katamari on 360. However this one makes me want to punch a bag full of babies. The controls are just the start. Often after choosing to restart the level the objects are not right side up and still look like they fell off the Katamari, the sound drops out, it runs terribly when you get hit by a car, there is no proximity warning sound, not enough object density and the level progression is completely linear. Yet the worst of all is that I found out the hard way that when you buy all the level packs for $13 it's only unlocked on one device and not your .me account. That means that I can't play it on my iPad or let my sister play on her iPhone. Worst purchase I have ever made, I'd have rather bought a hammer and bashed my skull with it until I just see the world like a Katamari game!
Not to mention that when you click the app support button it takes you to the Japanese Bandai page...
I dont understand why customizable controls on a touch screen are so hard. The directional pad or joy-pad should be able to be placed anywhere on the screen. Same with if you use both pads. Next, there should be a mirror mode in order to swap control sides. Im not asking to redo the whole control scheme, but rather improve it. I cant play this game because I lost my left arm a few years ago. Since the pad is on the left side of the screen I cover the screen reaching over to control it. Namco, Ive been a big fan for years. I havent bought any used namco games because you dont make a profit. Ever since the first ridge racer on psx (with the huge box) ive been a loyal fan. Can you please help me out with the controls? Ill be back and bring 5 stars and an updated review.
I am a huge Katamari Damacy fan. I have every title except the mediocre Xbox 360 game "Beautiful Katamari". This is without a doubt a great addition to the franchise. I have been playing it quite a bit, and the tie-in levels are interesting to say the least.
It would be my dream if the developers would add Icade support. But you do have a choice between control schemes, a single virtual pad, double virtual pads to mimic the original control scheme, and an accelerometer scheme that is garbage Get this game!
