Some IT problems but an amazing concept
I have been using Pact since the beginning, and the concept really really works for me. What is more motivating than paying vs. earning money simply by deciding not to be lazy? I have earned probably over $60 on this app, but I've paid probably the same amount over time. Regardless, I still use it! It keeps me accountable and can be that little reason to go for a 30 minute walk or eat an apple when otherwise you sit on the couch with a bowl of cereal because "you're too tired." (Hint: this is me some days). The app itself is a little inconsistent, and I've had to delete it and then re-install it before. However, Pact customer support has literally always given me a free pass if the reason I didn't complete my pact was due to IT issues. I mostly use the motion sensor and accomplish via walking in addition to my normal workouts so that I don't have to have my phone on me. Every little bit counts!
Keeps me honest
I've been using this app for a couple of years now. No, you're not going to make loads of money (maybe $50 a year) but that's not why I use it. It's so easy to say, "I'll just go to the gym later," and then before you know it, the day is over and the gym is closed and you procrastinated out of working out again. Well, the threat of paying up if miss my goals keeps me going to the gym or working out at home (with the motion tracker) at my set goal of 5 times a week. It's also got me eating better too now that I log fruit and veggies as well.
I let my pact rewards add up and withdraw at the end of the year and buy myself something fun.
The motion tracker workout isn't always 100% accurate though if it doesn't log a workout properly, their customer service team is good at giving me credit for it. I've also noticed that it's a lot more accurate lately.
I have been using this app for over two years. Recently I have had to email them every week to get something resolved because their app screws up. Sometimes it's because it didn't pull a workout correctly from mapmyfitness, sometimes it's because I got 30 minutes on a movement workout or 10k steps through the app itself then days later it says I had less than 30 minutes or less than 10k steps. Sometimes the people I speak to are helpful and fix it. But I guess they changed their policy. Now they will just 'skip' that week for you, so you get zero credit. Or they reduce your pact by what screwed up. So now they decided to punish you for their mistakes. This is my last week using this piece of crap. I recommend not using. It's not worth it. For 7 days of gym and 7 days of food logging I barely get $2/week. Not worth the time I have to fight it. Also, when an app tells you that you have to uninstall and reinstall multiple times in a row to maybe get it to work, uninstall and never go back. Biggest waste of time ever.
