Buggy, Odd Physics...but Looks Cool
I've played this game A LOT - more than a guy over the age of 30 should admit! With that amount of gameplay (have got more than 100M points in the game), I'd have to agree with what many of the FEW negative reviews have eluded too - odd physics, redundant gameplay. But for me, the real downside of this game is the hiccups it has. For instance, I was having a killer round (114M points and two balls left!) and the game hung-up...not "froze", hung-up...as in the ball got stuck inside the table and I couldn't reset it. Game was a loss. That's happened numerous times and it is a infuriating experience. Also, the ball has just jumped behind the flippers for no reason, ending the round or again getting "hung-up" somewhere without an ability to reset the ball (have to reset the whole game, losing your points). Lastly, the physics aren't quite right - you can hit the ball at different points along the flippers and it doesn't seem to have that much bearing on where the ball goes, which makes accuracy a pretty hard thing to come by.
Anyway, this is the first review I've wrote on here; did it because the friggin' game hung-up during another good round (twice in a row) and it motivated me to complain. Go figure! The game looks neat and was somewhat addicting for me, but the bugs and random physics are a buzzkill if you're into going for the leader boards.
A cup full of meh.
The table looks great, first and foremost. But, I feel that the physics of this game really inhibit the fun of this game. I am a big fan of real pinball; while not an expert, I've sunk many quarters into tables. This game fails to emulate the precision of real flippers, which I find to be irritating beyond belief. Also, it seems that the ball lacks the weight of a real pinball; it changes directions too quickly and lacks the momentum that would otherwise make this game fun and believable. I really hated that. On top of everything, I experienced bugs where my ball disappeared. Without counting this as a lost ball, the game became stuck, thusly ruining my score. It was only my first ball, so it wasn't a big deal, but it could be at higher scores.
Tldr' physics feel weird, bugs, great graphics.
This game has great color and terrific flash with enough stuff going on in the periphery to keep one interested. The pinball effects are real accurate and I love the way inertia is displayed in ball movement. The music and sounds are anything but annoying, they are actually wickedly fun. The only annoyance I have found in the game is the way you are showed the coffin every time you lose your pinball! Otherwise, this has quickly become my favorite pinball game. Every time I play, the outcome is different and I never feel like the game is rigged against me, in fact, it seems as if this is the absolute best pinball game for keeping your pinball in motion. The developers have done a great job!
