Multiple performance improvements and bug fixes
Fabulous weathermap graphics, true weather maps
If you are interested in true weather maps, not the fluffy "user friendly" stuff from the TV, this is your app. It doesn't have radar (there are hundreds of apps for that) but this is the only app I have found that delivers true world-wide weathermaps to your device.
You can view indivdual map layers, e.g. winds, temps, preassure, etc., or a terrific composit that lets you see it all at a single glance. And unlike radar that shows historical time lapse, this puppy lets you advance forward in time to see predicted results on the map.
I used it to follow the progress of Hurricane Sandy and the opposing weather front that wreaked havoc in the NE this week!
I'm not sure about the reivewer who had trouble loading/launching the app, it works great on my iPad2 under iOS 6. I have also corresponded with the developer about future features, so I'm sure they would help out if there is a problem. There was a recent upgrade for new iOS and device compatability, and that may have been the problem for some.
This is a terrific, well executed, weather app, an important addition to the kit of weatherbugs everywhere.
Excellent Weather App
Purchased after reading a review in NYTimes. It is now my favorite iPad weather app by far.
Anyone who has seen a WX chart used by pilots or sailors will feel instantly at home, but this app is EXTREMELY simple for a novice to learn and use. A must for anyone who travels globally for a living. I love how simple it is to move forward in time.
I intend to use this app along with my favorite local weather radar app.
Update: I have been using the app for 4 months now, since reading about it in the NYTimes. It is my go to weather app! I find it accurate and totally reliable for both local and international weather. I live in Miami, have relatives in Brazil, and travel to Europe every week as an airline pilot. Needless to say I like having one really accurate forecast to turn to, and this app is it. Can't say enough good things about it. Well worth paying for. Love the fact that it is ad-free.
This is a great weather overview app for trip planning, pilots and curious people in general. It displays a wealth of information in a very succint way, the multi-layered mode is very informative presenting all you need to know about multiple weather conditions. The app could use some performance improvements in the network usage, some offline caching would be great too. Best weather app I've used.
Update 1.6: much faster now, and some offline caching too! Five stars. There's a small bug in that it doesn't save metric units settings on the retina ipad for some reason.
