Pick your words wisely! As you work, more tiles rise from the bottom of the screen, and it'll take all of your lexicological wits, and tactical know-how to keep them down. If any of the letters make it to the top row, it's game over.

- TOWER MODE : No pressure here. Try and get the highest score possible out of 140 tiles, eliminating small words to set up 7- and 8-letter blockbusters!

- DAILY TOWER MODE : Stack up against other players on identical towers that change daily!

- PUZZLE MODE : Every word you make adds a new row of letters! Strategic word finding at its best.

- EXTREME PUZZLE MODE : Puzzle mode with the minimum word length cranked up. Experts only!

- ZEN MODE : Puzzle mode without any length requirements.

- RUSH MODE : Rows of letters build up over time. Find words as fast as you can, but be careful you don't back yourself into a corner!

- [Bonus!] SUPER TOWER MODE : (iPad Pro only) Try and get the highest score possible out of 432 tiles, eliminating small words to set up 7- and 8-letter blockbusters!

What’s New

Version 5.1.1

*Daily Tower Mode*
SpellTower 5.0 brings a brand new mode!
Compete against the world to get the highest score each day. Everyone get's the same board — can you score in the top 250? The top 10? First? Good luck!
Also in 5.0 I'm addressing a few longstanding complaints. First off, the modes all load much faster! Also, If you're accidentally submitting words I've added a way to turn off "double-tap to submit words" and instead only submit them by tapping the word in the top bar.
Thanks for sticking with SpellTower all these years! I hope you enjoy this update.
5.1 - Now that the big update is done I had some time to go back in and fix some pretty annoying issues.
Landscape Mode is back! Sorry about accidentally disabling it in the last update!

Added Giant Tower Mode All-Clear Bonus! If you've got a 12.1" iPad and are playing Giant Tower Mode, there's now a bonus for clearing the whole board.

Also I fixed the lost progress bug! This one is a long time coming, but the occasional lost progress bug is finally fixed.

Thanks for bearing with me!

Play this game. No, seriously. Just get it now.

You'll thank me later. Not convinced? Okay. Basically if you like word games, you'll love it. If you don't like word games, you'll still love it. This is the first game I've ever written a review for, and I've been gaming on iOS since iPhone 3GS. It's that good. I don't really know why you're still reading this. Just....just get it. Seriously. You'll thank me later.

Ok, if you really need to know how the game works, basically it's a big ol word search, but you can link letters together horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and every which way. And you'll need to. If you make a word next to areas without a letter (black zones like those parts of a crossword puzzle) then you blow that up. Make a big word? Blow up all the letters around it and score huge points. There are a number of game modes, and all off them are easy to grasp, but difficult in execution. Go look up the review on Touch Arcade for a more detailed review, if you must. But seriously. Good game.

The Bieg Deal ,

I'm not really that into word games, but somehow this game changed that. The different modes mean that there is something for everyone. Rush mode is for people who love the pressure of time based challenges, while tower mode's only constraint is that the tiles you start with are the only tiles you have to work with. The game ends when you don't think there are any words left. The visuals really make you feel like you are playing a game next to a crossword puzzle in a news paper, and really compliments the iPad. It's the kind of game you love to curl up with. I also really love playing it with someone else. My wife and I usually play rush mode together. She takes one side and I take the other. It's a really engaging and cooperative experience. Overall, a must buy for iPad. And if you're not a fan of word games, this might just change you're mind.

The only downfall is that If I can't find my iPad it's probably because my wife is playing SpellTower :)

Addictive and yet faulty.

Dear Zach, I love the game but still cannot understand why is that many word are not allowed and others that has NO DEFINITION on the dictionary are. For example, the game does not allow you to form the word "zoo" but it does allow you to form "moo". There are plenty of weird words I cannot list them here right now because I cant remember but they are worth points and are NOT listed in the definition list... Why is that? Another thing is, how come countries names and/or capitals are not allowed and some other unlsited words are?
As you see, my pet-peeve is exactly the points you get for unknown words to the SpellTower dictionary are ok and very well known words such as name of countries, capitals, some persons names are not.
I and totally addicted to the Rush mode but as soon as I am about to get a new record, the game will not accept any word smaller than 5 letters. Please, make the dictionary work like a real one and not like the game dictionary. Thank you and I love the game anyway.
