Napkin Sketch Stage

By Napkin Sketch, LLC

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

Do away with using overly complicated software to create a stage plot or resorting to drawing on a bar napkin. Napkin Sketch, the app, is your answer! To create a sketch, simply pick your stage size, drag and drop elements onto the sketch and when you're done, either e-mail or save the sketch right to your camera roll! Want to come back to a sketch? File it away and you can always edit it later. So easy… a musician can do it! (Ok, we're kidding about the musician part, but seriously this app is easy to use!)

Ok, so what's the difference between the basic app and the professional upgrade? I'm glad you asked. Both apps function exactly the same way, and give you the same features, same ability to save and send sketches. However, the pro upgrade gives those users who's needs are a little more demanding some extra tools.

There are 3 main differences between the basic app and pro upgrade are:

In the basic version, the sketcher is given the three most common stage sizes to start sketching with; 24'x32', 40'x40' and 60'x40'. In the pro version, you can enter your own stage sizes.

Also, in the basic version, the sketcher is limited to just basic stage shapes, however the pro version adds a stage editor tab that allows the sketcher to draw odd sized stages, adding thrusts, stage wings, etc.

Lastly, the pro version allows the user to select an image from their camera roll to use as a custom logo in the header box. This allows bands or companies to add their own logo to the sketch.

Listen, here at Napkin Sketch, we don't claim to be perfect, but we highly value user input and feedback. Drop us a note via e-mail, facebook or twitter with your ideas and comments. As future versions are being built we're going to heavily incoroprate user feedback to create the best possible sketching experience!

Great Stage Creator - Start to Finish!!!

Very, very impressed with app. Purchased the upgrade and all the assorted people and instruments which was reasonable. Took a little time to learn how to work everything but wow it is a real dream come true.

Needs a few additional instruments such as flute players and French horn players.

Only draw back is you can not send the completed file. This is problematic since conductor can not work on file with asst. conductor. Due to complexity of some stage setups this means only one person will have to do all drawings and take recommendations from staff members instead of each and all working on the file. However, app creators are working on a file sharing version coming later.

Great app guys!!!!

Cost more than $2

You will end up spending more than the $2.00 to purchase this app. Upon purchasing, there was another option to upgrade to the pro version for another $3.00 which made the total cost $5.00 for something you could draw on a piece of paper, take a picture of and text it to whomever needs it. I also went to add some special equipment pieces and was asked to spend yet another $2.00 for some little icon package that didn't offer much, making this app now $7.00.

I'm going to be contacting apple to get my money back, as I had no intention of paying more than $2.00 to utilize my iPad when I could just hand draw my stage plots. Don't spend your money on this app, and be sure to shop around for other alternatives.

Nifty but needs work

This does a good job of basic stage plots. But there are not enough undo functions. When you switch from one page of instruments to the next you cannot undo or relocate previous additions. This is a serious oversight for a app that could be so useful on-the-fly.
I have no issue with the in-app purchase cost, as long as the app is usable in pro and semi pro situations. If you can't afford ten bucks you probably shouldn't be in the audio biz.
