Excellent, surprisingly moving game
Just played it through with 3 of the 4 classes (bought in 2 purchases the two other classes -- combat alchemist and assassin, I think?). Gem system is gone, playability is awesome, never had a trouble with need to grind for levels as progression is tied to assigned tasks, not # of baddies killed. Only reason to repeat a level is to get more gear to sell, and each level's critters are randomly assigned, so grinding isn't boring.
I really really enjoyed the storyline -- and each class had a slightly different story, so replaying with different classes wasn't repetitious. Personally I prefer ranged combat, so the classes with that were happier for me than the base bloodknight.
Only really negative is that on my firstgen ipad mini, the game would occasionally slow ... to... a ... crawl..., esp when the numbers of enemies were many and the magefire or explosions were coming fast and furious (mostly when I was at level 11/12 and above). I'd quit every other app, restart the ipad, put it in airplane mode... No avail: the graphics were more than the mini could handle. But what lovely graphics! And a great storyline, excellent dialogue... Five stars. I recommend this game highly.
Fun to play, constant crashes still annoying
I really have been enjoying this game since it first came out. The graphics were plesant on the eyes and the gameplay mechanics were simple to understand. I was willing to overlook the bugs and crashes because of it, however they are becoming more frequent to the point of not being unable to ignore them.
I have been trying for the last two days to make it to level 7, however the game consistently crashes in the first "plan b" church mission when I get to the main area of the cathedral where I think the goal is. I can't be sure because it has been crashing EVERY single time I get halfway across the room.
I am unable to purchase any of the other character classes because it "cannot retrieve product data". I even turned in-app purchases off and later back on to see if it was contributing to the problem. There was no change.
It also seems that every five to ten minutes if I am working through a level, it will crash. Negating all the work I've done for the last few minutes.
For the second time, I am going to take a break from this game and wait for another update which may stop these major problems. I dont know if its because I am running OS 5, but I am willing to wait and find out.
In the end: good game, terrible instability and bug issues that limit playability.
Another cookie cutter RPG. Expect nothing new or exciting here.
While, sure, there are three playable classes in the beginning, that of three different stories, three different skill sets (that play into three different roles, def, off, magic ... Yippee!), but the exact same playable "Quest Maps", repeating the exact oriented "Quest Advancement Story."
Game is pretty linear. A to B questing. Level after level, after half a quest level, repeated on the same map, again and again. And the only way to level up is to play the map. Does not matter if you kill all the monsters. (Wierdly you'd think it get you more XP for that fear. Guess not.)
The story does not leave much imagination that a child in kindergarten could've written.
Only thing this game got going for it is the 3-D graphic engine.
Flimsy controls (if a monster dies behind the stairwell, its not as if it appears recovable w/ these touch navigate that runs around the boundries of the stairs), very simple attack module (tap here and here and here and.. Here!), oh I guess I could grade the sound, but I never do on any ios app/format because after 10 minutes of any hack and slash game, you turn off the sound immediately.
How this game scored anything above a 2 star is beyond me. Did anyone play it fully? Or just don't care? Just a dollar right? Who's time we're wasting here, right?
