Dark Sky Weather
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Dark Sky can tell you at a glance exactly when it will rain (or snow) up to an hour in advance, so you’re free to walk the dog or run out to lunch and know you’ll stay dry. You can also explore the most beautiful weather animation you’ve ever seen, both forward in time or back.
(Dark Sky is available in the US, UK and Ireland.)
YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE
Using GPS, Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week.
BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS
The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future.
Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven't opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it.
The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what's going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don't even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out.
Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

- Other minor stuff.
Used to be so accurate...
I'm a wedding photographer and this app used to be so accurate that I could tell my couples down to the minute when we were safe to run outside for a few minutes to grab portraits in the rain, or whether the rain would let up before the ceremony started. It used to make me look good, and more importantly, it made me love checking the weather.
I write this review from my pack porch where I've been sitting watching the rain fall for two hours... and for two hours, Dark Sky has insisted that, though there may be precipitation in the area, it's not going to rain today. Sadly, this is one in a long string of such events, like the one a few months ago where the wedding officiant and I were standing under a small eave taking cover from the rain whilst Dark Sky promised it wasn't raining.
I don't know what happened, but Dark Sky can no longer be trusted.
Doesn't predict down to the minute despite these claims
When I first heard about this app, I did my due diligence and read the many comments posted about the app on the Apple App Store and read all of the information posted about the app and underlying technology/services offered on the company's website.
Living in a climate where it rains a lot, I had high hopes for this app that it would accurately predict down to the minute when it would rain at the exact location I was at. I purchased the app exactly 1 month ago today, so I've had ample time to test it out and I must say I've been disappointed on most occassions when I'm walking or driving through rain and the app never warned me of and impending rain shower. I've reported the weather at my location on several occassions, but I'm not really sure how this helps improve the accuracy of the app.
In summary, I would not spend the $3.99 + tax to purchase this app again. You could get the same accuracy with other free weather apps.
I gave it two stars because I think the company did a good job on the app's user interface and some of the other stats (temperature, wind speed, etc.) it provides seem to be somewhat accurate.
Update 4: This app supports iOS 8 and up and description says there is a Today Widget, but the widget is iOS 10-only. The widget was actually *removed* on iOS 10. Do not download this app. The developer has and will remove features without notice or reason.
Update 3: Today widget is still missing in iOS 9. This developer has crippled their app on iOS 9 and *removed* the Today Widget. The developer wastes time with cutesy update notes but doesn't do any QA. Four updates in the last month and every update has had an issue including this never-resolved issue of the missing Today Widget on iOS 9.
Update 2: Three updates and the Today Widget is still not there on iOS 9 (it has disappeared since the iOS 10 update). This developer apparently doesn't care about existing customers. Be very careful and buy another weather app. There are plenty of other better options.
Update: The Settings screen is now fixed on iOS 9 but the widget is still missing!
"What's a major new iOS release without a subsequent frantic bug fix update?" A Dark Sky update, apparently, which is still broken.
The widget is gone on iOS 9 and the settings screen is fully screwed up. Do some testing before releasing a broken app, dummies.
