PodBlaster is an audio level normalizing and boosting app for spoken word audio, as well as a silence remover! If you find yourself constantly adjusting the volume while listening to spoken word audio, PodBlaster can help! This app will normalize the volume allowing you to set it and leave it. If you are listening to a podcast and one voice is quiet while the other is deafening, PodBlaster will level out the voices. If you are driving or in other noisy environments, you will be able to hear your podcast and not blow out your speakers.
The new silence remover is a unique way to speed up podcasts without distorting the audio. On average it knocks off about 10% - 25% of the playback time from a given podcast! Speeding up your podcasts with the standard speed control makes things sound garbled and sometimes unintelligible. By removing the excess silence between words and long pauses, you save time and wont even notice the difference. The only way to tell that it's working is to watch the seconds on the track timer. There is also a standard speed control that can be used in conjunction or independently.
PodBlaster can be used to prevent volume spikes as well as to boost the volume where needed. The simple interface with an added wheel allows you to quickly skip to a precise point as well as jump back AND forward by user selected amounts of time. Additionally, there is an option to jump forward/back within a track instead of skipping to the next/previous track using the headphone or lock-screen controls.

Freezes all the time
I love the sound controls on this app, and when it works it's great. But it freezes up on me all the time — I mean like every other time I use it. The currently selected track will continue playing, but when I go from the play screen to the index screen, it just freezes and becomes completely inoperable. The only way I can get it working again is to restart the phone, and even then it's hit or miss. The app's other major shortcoming, as others have mentioned, is its inability to update, organize, or delete podcasts. A good enough app to make me really wish it were more reliable.
I downloaded this in search of better audio on Podcasts. The audio controls are easy to use and work well. Where the app completely misses the mark, is that it lacks any internal method to subscribe to, or organize playlists. The user is forced to use the Apple Podcast app or iTunes to organize things. The ideal app would incorporate the audio controls in this app, with the superior download and organization of an app like PodCruncher. For now, it's back to PodCruncher for me, living with no audio controls...
Saved an Important Podcasts Useability
Our church has a podcast of all services. When our preacher preaches, he uses volume for emphasis. As a result, if using other apps to lister to them, I have to continually adjust the volume away from can't hear him to being blasted out of the car. With this app, the app does the adjustment for me.
A couple of recommendations:
1. Add sort order to latest first, or make that an option.
2. When viewing a list of episodes of a podcast, have an indicator of which is being played.
3. Add tap the screen anywhere to pause/play for safer use when driving.
I thank God for this app.
