pretty but basic.

the short description of this app reads "…allowing you to sync between friends and family…" really? i can't seem to find any way to sync between friends and family, although there is a way to share via SMS or email. if the app DID have a way to sync a list with someone, that would be fantastic, as my partner and i could keep a running grocery list in sync on our devices.

this also looks like almost the exact same app as "ShoppingList" by the same developer, and if you install "Shopp" the icon label reads "Shopping List". visit their website and there's no mention of "Shopp", but "Shopping List". and because you're required to create an account if you want cloud syncing, there's no mention anywhere on the site of any privacy agreements. without that, one can assume that the developer is selling your information to third parties. not cool.

as a simple list manager, it looks very pretty, but the functionality is a bit basic. no way to quickly add frequently used items to your list, you have to type them in every time.

Great app but......

cbDejaVu

This is a fantastic looking app that works well. The "but" is the forced Orientation of the UI. First off the the completely unacceptable thing is forcing one landscape orientation (by this I mean the screen is forced to have you holding the iPad with the home button located on the right side of the screen). With my case when I hold my iPad horizontally I prefer the home button on the left. That is something that should be simple to fix I would think.

However for a "list" type app I really prefer to use a portrait orientation and find landscape to be extremely annoying. What would work much better in my opinion is to have the list of your lists be on a slide out/popup element much like the way the mail app behaves. This would make the app much more useful when actually using it and browsing through your lists. Obviously this is based on my own personal preference. For now I'm deleting the app but will keep an eye on it to see if the UI becomes more user friendly instead of forcing 1 landscape orientation on the user.

Needs some work

This app came along at the right time, as my wife and I formerly used Evernote until this most recent update required an Internet connection to use.

There are some UX issues that need fixing though: unlock the rotation (it only orients one way, and that is upside down landscape from how most iPad covers prop up the device for typing); rename the two list buttons to be distinct; provide a more noticeable indication of whether a list is selected, in edit mode (replace "edit" with "done" something); and allow a list to be renamed.

I have only had the app for about 20 hours, but I still intend to use it for our grocery lists for the time being.
