The Details:
• New! In your display panel (tap the “Aa” icon), you can now select from six beautiful fonts, adjust your background color and brightness, and change your alignment.
• Improved! The quickest and smoothest page turns around.
• New! Your audiobooks will continue to download even when you exit the app.
• Improved! Audiobook chapter transitions so seamless you won’t even know they’re there.
• Many, many bug fixes.

That's all for now! Questions? Comments? Opinions on the new iOS emoji? We’d love to hear them:

Customer Reviews

Audiobooks clunky; good customer service

Update 2: Scribd contacted me after I became frustrated with the audiobook feature. They were very helpful and offered to help troubleshoot. There is not much to troubleshoot really: The audiobook function can sometimes lose its place, hang on downloads (though it does eventually complete them), and so on — it’s just not as smooth of an experience as Audible. Still, overall the selection is quite good and after deleting/reinstalling, it is working better.

Update 1: After deleting and reinstalling the app, the audiobook functioning is improved, however it still sometimes hangs on downloads, but synchronizing does seem faster after deleting/reinstalling. Up to 3 stars. I’m still using it.

Previous review: This service has promise. It is not “lit lite” as someone noted in another review. There are lots of wonderful options, both more recent, and many classics. However the audiobook functionality is still terribly programmed — usability is very low. Books are no longer downloading completely. Synchronization (already annoying to begin with) now takes even longer. I’m not sure what to do, as the audio is one of the main reasons I purchased a membership. I may cancel if it is not fixed soon.

AudioBook feature Fails!

I was excited to find this app last month. After being a subscriber to Audible for many years and having over 300 books in my audio library. I thought this would be a great app. The book selection is good, very diverse and both older and new books are avaliable.
BUT, the app functionality with playback of audiobooks is poor at best. Today while on the road for more than 5 hours, I hoped to finish listening to Catch 22. Everytime I got a call, or got out of the car, the app locked up. I finally gave up and started listening to podcasts. Sometimes the app just stops at a chapter end and never starts again. You have to shut down the app and restart. Then even though I downloaded the complete book to my phone, the app wanted to go online to download the book in real time. This app could be one of the best in the Istore, but the audiobook portion of the app, fails.
Since I dont, use the app for reading books, I have to give Scribd a poor rating. I will keep my subscription for another month in hopes that they get some updates to fix the bugs, but if they don't, then I will be back to Audible and the Podcasts.
A real shame.

I am in a car for an average of 9 hours a day and listening to audiobooks has become my lifesaver. I was excited about this app and signed up for a subscription immediately. The selection is pretty good and I have no issues downloading books. However, I do get frustrated when a book gets hung up when moving on to the next section. Sometimes it will skip it, freeze or go back in the book. I deal with it because at a $9 a month subscription (I find this a bargain since I can go through 4 books a week on average), it's a minor frustration at best.
Here's the latest issue though. While listening to a book today I got a notice that my free trial was almost over. I had already subscribed to a pay plan, so I tried to dismiss the notice. Then I get booted out of the app. I had to long back on and subscribe all over again. I'll check my statements for double billing, but what ticks me off the most is all of the books I added to my library for later are gone! And the book I was in the middle of? I now have to find where I was to continue listening after downloading it again. Grrrrrr
