Understand and uncover the identity of a location with a tap.
Sitegeist is a mobile application that helps you to learn more about your surroundings in seconds. Drawing on publicly available information, the app presents solid data in a simple at-a-glance format to help you tap into the pulse of your location anywhere in the United States. From demographics on the people and housing to the latest popular spots or weather, Sitegeist presents localized information visually so you can get back to enjoying the neighborhood. Sitegeist was created by the Sunlight Foundation with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and is the third in a series of National Data Apps.
Wow! More data please!
What a fantastic app! I've been enjoying exploring my neighborhoods with this app!
My only critique is that I want more!
I'd love to see additional data in the following categories:
-Crime statistics (where available)
-More granular poverty statistics
-Historical population data
-State/Municipal tax info
-Health and Education statistics
-Local Political Reps
-Political contributions (OpenSecrets?)
-Historical record and average temperature
-Anything else of interest pulled from Census data!
What a great start to a truly fascinating App!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And this app -- I believe -- will help me find breakfast. Additionally, if I'm at dinner with strangers, this app will help me start conversations. Especially with ladies. For example: You are a lady. I am a man. We are both represented on this chart. We should have breakfast together tomorrow. Additionally, sometimes I wake up in strange places and I don't know where I am. This app will also help me find clothing stores, because I often wake up only partially clothed. I wish I could fly. Potato.
Fun, Just like...
One of the categories of details. A little more information would be great though. I understand the desire to keep it simple, but an option to 'see more' would be nice (maybe the top 5 or top 10). It'd also be nice to see a few more data categories.
My biggest complaint, though, is that it is really hard to swipe from screen to screen on my i5. I have to often swipe 3 or 4 times to get the screen to slide.
