A little glitchy, but works well.
I downloaded this app because I was sick and tired of the confusion from the disaster that is Apple Music. I just wanted a simple music player to play my stored library, and this app meets my needs. I'm actually glad the songs aren't sorted by album under the "Artist" view, because I like to listen to the entire discography, and I was fed up that I couldn't do that with Apple Music. If there were an option for both views, that would be okay too, I suppose.
I like the app's simplicity and touch screen functions, but I can tell it's still under some development. When pairing with my Bluetooth devices, sometimes the app glitches, and the screen goes blank. I can't access my other music files. In addition, I feel like the music player "shuffle all" mode doesn't actually include all songs on the selected playlist in the rotation. I find myself listening to the same 10 songs and having to skip until it hits a different track.
Monkey Bits is apparently working on a second version of the app, so hopefully we'll see some improvements when that one is released.
The way a touch screen music player should be
I recently bought an iPod Touch for all of my music and found it very frustrating. I could not understand why the music player would not allow any kind of touch screen controls or gestures. I would constantly miss the skip or repeat buttons and many times blew my eardrums out hitting the volume slider by mistake.
I was really frustrated with the experience until I found this app. Beat solved all of my problems. Want to switch a song? Swipe left and right. Would you like to change the volume? Swipe up or down. Feel like a random song? Give it a shake and see what comes out. All these awesome options and cusomizable to boot. This is my go to app now for music and I love it. It even has fun little unlockables for using it too if you're into that.
Easy to use and Beautiful
Would give five stars if the interface was faster. The gestures are easy to learn and fun to use but what I mean is that I don't like the split time it takes to switch between the artists, playlist, albums and songs tabs when I swipe left and right through them. The biggest problem with it for me though is that it doesn't show the artists albums in their drop down menu - just their songs. This really bugs me because I have many albums from multiple artists and when I can't see the two or three different albums from the same artist in one place, it makes finding the right song a little harder for me. Plus it's more organized and beautiful that way. I hate the way the artist drop down menu looks with just a list of songs and and and a number in respect to them.
4/5 for a beautiful and easy to use app, but could use some tweaking in a few areas. Worth a try though 👍
