Still pretty good

1/7/17 update - having a big issue with the app right now. After almost every issue I read, I get signed out. So when I get to the final menu it offers to let me read a sample of the next issue or sign in. So then I have to go to the multi page sign in process and then find where I was, read the next issue and the. Start the process all over again. VERY infuriating. Because when you're signed out you can't read the issues you've downloaded for offline reading and then you can't sign in because you're offline! But you never realize when you're in the middle of an issue that it has signed you out to sign back in before you go offline for any reason. I'll say that a symptom of it does seem to be that you're reading an issue and your iPad drops to one or two wifi bars. Got any clue software engineers?
I've reviewed this before but it's been updated a few times so I wanted to give an update. The app handles downloads a TON better, very smooth. The only current glitch I can see is that sometimes with trying to get 12 offline issues it thinks there's more in there than there actually is and it says you can't add more issues. Then you have to completely close the app and restart it and must reset its internal counter or something. Idk. But it has definitely improved since my last review.

I am Disappoint

I have the Marvel comics app, which runs on the Comixology template. Love that app. All my purchases are located in one spot. I can organize them by title, story arc, or even recency.

This app, on the other hand, lacks even the ability to organize your titles by, well, title. So every time you want to read a specific book or issue, be prepared to start scrolling . . . and scrolling . . . and scrolling. Then you can finally start read -- nope, my bad, keep scrolling some more!

Look, Marvel Unlimited, take a seat. We need to talk. Your big brother, Marvel Comics (brought to you by Comixology) is making you look like a scrub. You can do better. I know you are capable of greater things, but you gotta put some effort into it, okay? No more video games after school. You need to buckle down and take some pride in your work. Until you can demonstrate that you are worthy of my annual subscription fee, I'm afraid I have no choice other than to withhold your allowance. No, I don't wanna hear about what Dark Horse or Image are doing. If they jumped off of a cliff, would you? And, in any event, they are both leaps and bounds ahead of you. Straight to your room, mister, and I don't want to see you until you've thought long and hard about your shortcomings and start making some real progress. I say good day.

Great Service with a Couple of Flaws

I love the Marvel Unlimited service. Spending 70 bucks to read all of the Marvel comics I want for a year is a great deal for me, especially with the added bonus of nicely curated events. Some of the older comics aren't cut up as nicely as the newer ones (some of the 90s Inhumans are particularly hard to read on mobile), but on the whole it works well.

That being said, the app has a few major flaws, the biggest of which being the inability to add reading lists to your library. I'm working through the original Civil War event and it's pretty annoying to effectively lose my place about half the time I read an issue with a major character. I finished a Black Panther tie in issue just now, but the suggested list at the end was the Black Panther character spotlight. That's all fine and good, he's a cool character and I'll probably go back and read that list later, but right now I want the next CW issue. The app should be smart enough to recognize that I've been reading through that list for the last hour. Better yet, give me an option to tell it. I don't want to have to dig through the "Discover" list, then the list itself to try to find my place again.
