Customer Reviews

They are updating this program like there’s no tomorrow!

I am not a very patient person. I will not falsify and say this APP is perfect. If you want to be able to start using this to replace your current mail APP, be willing to roll a little. This is a CONCEPT change, not just another E-Mail APP. I’ve had a couple problems that I needed assistance on. This is all the CON’s.
Now, there is one PRO that I have never experienced with any other APP developer…EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am giving this APP 4 stars because I made a change that made me lose all my data for this APP. “I” made a mistake that deleted all my Mail Pilot data into the trash. I new enough not to empty the trash but I had no idea how to fix this. Due to the holidays, it did take their customer support a day to respond, but I know this APP is a work in progress…so, I used my other Email client in the meantime, no problem. When I did what support said…everything was perfectly fixed. I lost nothing.
So, all this to say: This is a work in progress. This is a different concept to learn, but I think all of this will be well worth it.
I’m in this one through the bumps until it becomes a number 1 product! It will get there, I have no doubt.
Finally, an email APP that will change the way I handle email.

Crashes, awkward UI in spots

The testament to a good iOS mail client is whether you can replace the default mail app completely. Cool concept aside, Mail Pilot fails to deliver on this. For example, I frequently mail myself URLs in the subject field. In just about every mail client I've used, you can tap on that link to view it. Mail Pilot doesn't detect these links and you have to manually transcribe them into Safari.

Mail Pilot does not inline attachments so attachments referred to in the text are out of context, affecting the readability of the email.

It takes two taps from a message list to delete any one message. Delete is something I do often, and it should be readily available, not hidden in a menu.

I also bought the desktop client so I could experience the whole ecosystem, but the system fails in that many times the messages listed in the phone client are different than the ones listed in the Mac client. They are not always perfectly synced.

On top of this, there are many interface glitches, and random crashes. I contacted their support several times and they promised they were releasing a new client soon. Fingers are crossed, but until then I still need to use the default mail app.

If you want to play with a toy with some cool mail concepts, grab the app. But if you intend to get serious work done, look elsewhere.

Demoed the beta for a couple months, ready for prime time?

I see a lot of negative feedback on here. I’ve been using Mail Pilot since the private beta started; with each update there have been significant improvements. I’m excited to see where Mindsense takes the app now that its publicly available.

Currently I’m a software (web) developer and over the last few years I have been making effort to become independent of email (as it is dated at this point, IMO it is cumbersome and still unreliable i.e.. viruses, spam, privacy, etc.). Mail Pilot is the first attempt I have seen to take email in a different direction. The layout is simple and refreshing - easy to use once you’re comfortable with the app terminology.
