Fixes issues using the remote with Netflix and YouTube.
A useful tool for XBOX ONE owners
A true extension of your Xbox ONE console and vast improvement on the Xbox 360 version. The previous version was often very slow to connect to the console and it was most of the time a toss-up to see if it would actually work correctly or not. However this version connects almost a mediately to the console and acts as a pretty seamless remote as well as some nifty other features. Opening the app brings you to a news feed feature that lets you keep track of what your friends have been up to. From the app you can also access your own achievements, manage your profile and account info, and it even lets you message your friends back and forth while you are away from your console. You can access your pins while you are connected to the console, allowing you to instantly launch whatever app or game you are trying to get to. Now that the Xbox one never truly powers off and stays connected to wifi, you can even turn your Xbox on and off from the application. The keyboard functionality is a little spotty which is a major drag when you are trying to search through Netflix or look up a walkthrough quickly in the Internet explorer app. When you are forced to enter text through your controller it is usually followed by frustrated sighs. All in all, especially with the app being free, it doesn't make any sense not to have it.
Wonderful Useful App!
Many of Xbox Live’s social features are baked right into the Xbox app, which means you can interact with your friends (and your own profile) from any Device. You can view other users’ profiles, see what your friends are playing now, join a party, voice chat, message, and all that good stuff. Plus, you can customize your own profile: tweak your avatar via the linked Xbox Avatars app, switch up your Gamerpic, modify your account color, set your online status, and even change your Gamertag.
KEEPS YOU IN THE LOOP.
Looking to keep an eye on your achievements while you’re away from your console? The Xbox app does that. Want to visit the Game Hub of your latest obsession to check on any updates or other players’ progress? The Xbox app does that. Want to keep an eye on your activity feed – where you can share, like, and comment on your friends’ progress? You know, the Xbox app does that, too. It can keep you up to date with everything that’s happening in your Xbox world, wherever you are. I love this app it is really great when you wamt to check up on things and friends or even create a status! Pretty soon i can see this evolving into Twitter almost.
Good App But......
Is a very useful app as far as being able to type out your messages quickly instead of using the Xbox one controller to peck them out, and has some great potential, but seeing as the App Store hasn't been flooded with apps like this yet you would think they would take advantage of this fact and add more content.... The bare bones are there but there's nothing this app does that makes me eager to log on and use it on a daily basis other than like I said previously, allowing me to use my tablet keyboard to type out my searches and messages. It can however also be useful if your Xbox remote breaks or quits working and you have no way of getting a replacement immediately. That happened with my son in the middle of a storm and we ran out of batteries once for the Xbox 360 remote, and both times the kids used their phones and tablets as remotes until we could rectify their remote issues..... So even though it has a lack of content wow factor as well as too any adds,
I will say that being able to use your tablet keyboard ⌨ to type or phone as a controller 🎮 are definitely two big pluses.....
Come on Xbox, we've seen the awesome things you can do! Make me love this app... 😆
