Yahoo News Digest provides a definitive summary of all the important, need-to-know news. Digests are delivered twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. All the top stories are summarized and presented with the key information that you need to stay on top of what’s happening.
Each story is created from multiple sources to present the essential bits and pieces of information, known as “Atoms”. Atoms are key quotes, images, videos, stock tickers, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts among others. These atomic units provide a unique context to the news. Our stories are both algorithmically and hand curated to ensure high quality, and come with a textual summary.
In addition, we have extended this paradigm for the Apple Watch to deliver top-of-the-hour news bulletins. These bulletins are designed with the Yahoo News Digest's minimalist and modernists attitude. A bulletin begins with a beautiful, geometric poster which signifies the hour using Roman numeral accents, color and diagonal accents. The view is simple with just a graphic and concise headline. The bulletin itself is composed three simple but important screens. We offer the user a two sentence microsummary, a visual piece of information we call an "atom" eg map/stock ticker/stat, and then the ability for the user to speed read further information.
Yahoo News Digest makes your reading experience comprehensive, effortless, and complete, and is customized for both iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. If you get your News Digest on an iPad, you’ll also enjoy a weekly Katie Couric video show, the ability to customize when you receive your news and, in the US edition, extra news categories called Sections which include atomized stories on a whole range of topics.
We are committed to building the best mobile experience and are interested in your feedback.

What's New in Version 1.7.3
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
No complaints here
Short concise news bytes is helpful but very limited selection. Usually there is a good variety with a mild media bias. I have no found those mismatched pictures and proofing errors others have mentioned but why I read is because I can get the key elements of the story and move on. If that is what you want this is the app and there is available more selections and details if you want. If you read them all "Did you know" is usually great but you have to read all the articles. The quotes here are great and well worth the app. When it comes to sports I cheat just open and close.
Used to be Good
I loved this app when it first came out, but it's steadily decreased in quality in the last several months. You might ask, how could that be, since it's basically taking AP stories and putting them in a nicer format?
1.) Whoever is editing the stories from the original AP source is doing a terrible job. A headline from one of today's article was the straw the broke the camel's back for me. "Kim Davis remains in jail with clear conscious..." Seriously? The editors of the yahoo app also consistently strip important contextual paragraphs from the original articles for the sake of brevity, but often also sacrifice clarity.
2.) I get that Yahoo has Katie Couric. But devoting articles to her interviews is ridiculous, as they are never news-breaking.
Great little app
Been using this for months. Pretty good app as I mentioned in my first review (below).
I saw another user complain about fact checking. This is a legitimate complaint. I'm thinking of the disruption at Bernie Sanders talk in Seattle which was presented as being from "Black Lives Matter " activists at first. Later it turned out that they were not BLM people. This app reported that it was BLM people when they ran a related story two days later.
This is BAD journalism. I don't know if BLM or some GOP shills interrupted Bernie but I expect the NEWS to get the story right AND this app/newsfeed DID NOT.
Maybe Faux Noose has an app I should try ...
Old review below:
Nicely designed and has very few things to complain about. I'm a developer so I notice teeny weeny subtle edge case glitches. This app has a small amount of hiccups sometimes in some of the UI animation but the data download is fast and efficient. I use it as my quick news source and when I have time I follow on to more in depth info.
