How to Play:
The gameplay is simple.
- Move the falling blocks into the best position to combine blocks and clear rows.
- Place 2 blocks of the same color on top of each other to combine them into a single block of a darker color.
- Create a row of blocks with the same color to clear the row.
- Don't let your stack of blocks hit the top.
Super simple, surprisingly challenging.

What's New in Version 1.3.1
- bug fixes and improvements
I like Shades. I really do, and the concept is really great; with so much potential for improvement. However, in my opinion, the hardest part of a game Should Not be its' controls.
The game is addicting and fun to play, and it is very satisfying to connect the shapes in the correct order. The color schemes (except yellow) are very pleasing to the eye (in my opinion), and I Love the ability to choose between 3, 4, or 5 rows. So five stars for that, and for the custom dialogue boxes.
BUT: The most difficult part of playing a game of shades is using the controls. If you want to line up a block, you have to wait until it stops forming from the top bar before you can even place your finger on the screen to control the row it goes to. This would be no big deal, except for the fact that it makes it completely impossible to regain control over the game if you make a mistake when the blocks are coming quickly. Trying to hold your finger on the row you want to use is even worse; if you do this you have to lift your finger and place it down again. Simply put, the controls are the game's rage factor. Beware!
Great clever app!
This game is really great at testing the mind and how quick one can be to keep their blocks as low as possible! The idea is well to help those to think fast as they exceed through the game. The really only problem I have with it is that I am bad at seeing some of my blues, so the blue version is hard with me. There should be an option to change colors instead of having to process though a game and start over to get another color. Possibly make a settings option to help this? Anyway the game is so far my favorite game to quickly phase through during a boring car or bus ride!
Shades is a great game, an interesting spin on 2048-type games, with Tetris-style mechanics. The only complaint I have is that the column in which blocks can appear from is completely random. When things are getting hectic at the top, you don't stand a chance because your fingers will not be able to move the block over in time. This means you have to keep all columns pretty flat across the playfield, which complete negates the entire strategy of the game. Still pretty darn good though!
