Good idea! Horrible Execution!
The app and process is confusing. It prompts you for payment before you even do anything. It then charges $0.01. The menu isn't a part of the "to go" payment option and when you exit back to view the menu and then return to pay, it again authorizes $0.01. The person at the store we ordered from aren't trained well and dismissed our questions and didn't explain anything when we said we were trying to use CakePay. The app told us we qualified for a complimentary slice of cheesecake when we signed up to use it the first time, but the store wouldn't honor it, even after asking to talk to management. The manager simply relayed a message back through the person taking the order that they knew nothing about the promotion, weren't going to honor the promotion, and said to call corporate. The manager didn't even get on the call. You can tell employees hate cake pay and don't want to support it. It's probably cumbersome on their side also.
Needs to support gift cards
We go to Cheesecake Factory once a year for our anniversary because my parents always give us $50 worth of gift certificates.
I like the idea of this app, but it doesn’t have a way to enter the gift certificates. It would be nice if you could enter in the gift certificates into the app and it takes off that amount before charging our main payment source.
I asked a server about it, and she said we could use the app and once we’re ready to pay we could hand the gift certificates to her and she would then take that amount off the bill and then we could pay the remainder on the app, but that seemed to defeat the purpose.
Still have to call though
I wanted to use this because it's way easier for me to order in the app then just pick up my food. Especially when I'm exhausted and just do the want to talk to anyone. Plus that way I can see a total and decide if there's something I dont want based on the total cost of the meal. This app makes you pre-authorize a payment then call to order. If I wanted to call to order I'd save the room on my phone's home screen and just call the number myself. Wish this was like other mobile ordering apps that let you order in the app and not just a glorified 411. Plus the pre-authorization is a rip off. Basically you're charged a penny to view the menu. I guess it's another way for them to make money.
Try door dash or uber eats instead.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
